Steps on how to test drive

  1. Upon creating your account, you'll be directed to the test drive page. If not, visit Test Drive to begin.

  2. Click Let's Go to initiate the test drive session. Then, select your preferred control method: game controller, driving wheel, or keyboard.

  3. After selecting your controller, continue by clicking the Start button.

  4. Bind the keys according to your chosen control setup.

  5. Once the keys are bound, click Proceed to drive in the upper-right corner.

  6. Accept the terms of use by ticking the boxes then click Good to proceed!

  7. Wait briefly for the bot's feed to load. If it takes longer, refresh the browser.

Note: Bot's feed typically loads in 5 seconds but could take longer depending on your internet speed. Contact our customer support if the bot feed doesn't load after reloading the page.

Your goal during the test drive is to approach each numbered cone (0-9) and scan all checkpoints in any order within the 15-minute timeframe.

If you fail to scan at least 7 checkpoints within 15 minutes, you'll receive the following message. Since the test drive is free, simply click the Try Again button located in the upper right corner if you wish to give it another shot.

After you manage to scan at least 7 checkpoints within 15 minutes, you'll receive a notification similar to the one below. Simply click Continue to Open-World Game to access the open-world dashboard.

Helpful Tips

Scanning Cones

  • Position your bot at an optimal distance from the cone. Being neither too close nor too far ensures the cone's number is visible on the camera.

  • Face the cone directly to ensure the most straightforward view and avoid potential obstructions hindering visibility.

Low Light Conditions

  • If the environment is dim, switch on the bot's headlights located in the upper left corner.

  • If you fail to scan checkpoints while headlights are on, turn off headlights before clicking Scan checkpoint.

Bot Issues

  • If you encounter delays, simply refresh the tab to get back on track.

  • In case the bot has an issue, go to the Menu on the upper left and click Quit & Abort to end the drive. Then restart your test drive to try with another bot.

After your test drive, you'll gain access to the open-world dashboard.

Notifications During Test Drive

As you navigate your test drive, you may encounter the following notifications or pop-up messages:

Your spot was taken

If you see the below message, it means someone else has connected and taken your spot. Click Return back to dashboard then Let's GO to be assigned to another available bot.

No test drive bot available

If you are unable to access an available bot, try reloading the page every few minutes. This will give you a chance to snag an available one as other users have finished their test drive.

Scan completed

When you're scanning a cone and you see this banner, it means you have successfully scanned the cone and it will be added to your scanned cones list.

Oops! There's a problem with the checkpoint scan. Please re-do the scan

If you see this banner, it means scanning was unsuccessful. This could be because the bot is too far or too close from the cone or the number is not visible. Try driving moving the bot to the cone and scan again.

Looks like you've already visited checkpoint #0 previously

This banner means you have already scanned the cone earlier. Keep driving around and find the cones you haven't scanned to continue your test drive.

Test Drive Guidelines

It is important to follow rules and guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Please read the following terms of use before doing a test drive:

  • Responsible Operation - Operate the bot responsibly. This means being aware of your surroundings and other FrodoBots in the area. Please do not intentionally bump into other bots, as this can cause damage and disrupt the experience for others.

  • Completing the Drive - Complete the drive without abandoning your FrodoBot. If you are idle for 10-15 minutes, you will be automatically kicked out of the drive. This is to ensure that all participants are actively engaged and to prevent disruptions.

  • Avoid Destructive Behavior - To maintain a safe and enjoyable environment, it is important to avoid any destructive behavior while driving a Frodobot. This includes damaging property, hitting cones and barriers, and intentionally crashing the bot.

If any of the above rules are violated, it may result in being kicked out of the drive or, in severe cases, removal from the entire FrodoBots service so please adhere to these terms of use when driving a bot.
