Troubleshooting steps for you

  1. Check your mic settings

    1. On your computer, go to System (Control panel) and then Sound to verify that a wired or wireless mic is selected as an input device

    2. Make sure your input volume for your mic is set to at least 60% (note: setting your volume too high may also cause issues). Also, if your volume is too low, Bola may not hear you.

    3. Make sure your are using a wired or wireless mic and that it is also the active input device (i.e. do not use your computer’s built-in mic)

  2. If using a wireless mic, make sure it is charged

  3. Refresh your browser window if the red recording/listening button on the mic widget is not responding

  4. If the above steps have not resolved the problem, try the following:

    1. Restart your computer - sometimes memory leaks can cause problems with how your computer works

Steps to troubleshoot with technical help if the above steps do not resolve the issue

  1. Check the computer’s internet speed

    1. We recommend the tools: Fast OR SpeedTest to check your internet speed

    2. Bola AI requires internet speeds of at least 5 Mbps(with a recommended of 10 Mbps)

  2. Use a mic testing utility to test audio and playback

    1. Tools such as https://restream.io/tools/mic-test allow you to test your mic and hear the playback

    2. Is the audio playback degraded? Are you able to make out numbers, words, and phrases? If not, there may be an issue with your microphone

  3. Double check input devices and volume settings

    1. In System/Sound, double check that an approved wired or wireless input device is being used with Bola

    2. Make sure the input volume on the mic is set to at least 60%

  4. See if you can reproduce the issue on another operatory

    1. If the issue is device specific, there may be something wrong with this particular device and not the Bola software

Bola is charting or navigating in an unexpected way

Troubleshooting steps for you

  1. (Fuse) make sure you are using 1-16B / 16-1 L, 32-17B / 17-32 tooth navigation script. Using any other script may result in unexpected behavior

  2. Verify that your microphone isn’t on when not charting - for example, if my mic is on but I am not charting perio measurements and someone says “I have to jump to my next appointment at two” Bola may navigate on the perio chart thinking you are talking to him/her

  3. Make sure you are not speaking too quickly

    1. As you are using Bola, try charting in groups of 3 (ex: 1,2,2 - 2,1,2 - 222). You also need to pause between measurements to make sure Bola has a chance to listen and then interpret what you are saying

  4. Make sure speak back settings are disabled in the extension

    1. In a perio chart in Fuse, click on the Settings button on the Bola AI mic widget. Then, from the Options menu, click on Mic Settings. Make sure both Speak back pocket depths and Speak back all commands are unchecked

    2. Using these settings without headphones will confuse Bola and cause issues with charting

  5. Avoid using the voice commands “Skip”, “Back”, and “Next”

    1. This functionality is in the process of being supported in Fuse:Bola.

  6. Refresh your browser window and try again

  7. If the above steps have not resolved the problem, try the following:
