Move Plan & Notifications

See everyone whose seat changes in a scenario, and choose who gets notified — and how — when you publish.

Written by Madeline Frank

When you move people around a floor plan, Gable now keeps a Move plan — a running list of everyone whose seat changed in a scenario — and lets you notify the people who moved when you publish. You decide who hears about it and on which channel, right in the Apply flow.

💡 Move plan and move notifications require the Space Planning add-on. See Scenarios for how scenarios and publishing work.

🗺️ Where to Find the Move Plan

There are two ways in:

  1. In the scenario editor – open a scenario and click the Move plan icon in the top-right toolbar, next to Apply changes. It swaps the floor plan for the move list at any time while you work.

  2. During publish – it's the second step of the Apply changes modal, after the change summary.

📋 What's in the Move Plan

At the top you'll see a count of every seat change in the scenario:

  • Total moves – all seat changes in this scenario

  • New – people given a seat they didn't have before

  • Remove – people whose seat was taken away

  • Reassign – people moved from one seat to another

Below that, one row per person:

Column

What it shows

Employee name

Name, department, photo, and email

Previous

Where they sat on the live floor plan — anything being taken away is shown in red

Current

Where they'll sit in this scenario — anything new is shown in purple

Move type

New, Remove, or Reassign

Changed by

The planner who made the change

Use the floor filter at the top to narrow to a single floor (or all office floors, or parking), and Search employees to jump to one person.

💡 A single person can appear with several lines under Previous and Current — for example losing a neighborhood seat and gaining a desk. That's one move, not three.

🔔 Notifying People When You Publish

Notifications are set at publish time, so you send one clean message once the plan is final — not on every edit along the way.

  1. In the scenario editor, click Apply changes

  2. Step 1 — Apply: review conflicts, the change summary, and any bookings that will be cancelled, then click Next

  3. Step 2 — Move plan: the same move list, plus a Notify column showing what each person will receive

  4. Adjust anyone you don't want to notify (see below)

  5. Check the count in the bottom-left — "X of Y users will be notified"

  6. Click Publish

💡 By default everyone in the move plan gets notified, on every channel your company has connected. If that's what you want, just hit Publish.

⚙️ Changing Who Gets Notified

  1. Tick the checkbox next to one or more people (or the header checkbox to select everyone)

  2. Click Edit notifications in the bottom-right

  3. Set the options for the rows you selected:

  • Send notificationYes or No. Choosing No sets those rows to Do not notify; they still move, they just aren't told by Gable

  • Who should be notified?Employees, the people who are moving

  • Send viaEmail, Slack, and/or Teams. Untick any channel you don't want

  1. Click Apply to N rows

The Notify column updates immediately so you can see exactly who is getting what before you publish. Repeat with a different selection to give different groups different treatment — for example, email only for one team, no notification at all for people you've already told in person.

💡 Slack and Teams only appear as options if your company has that integration connected.

✉️ What Employees Receive

People who are notified get a message titled "You've got new workspace assignments" listing each seat they've been given, with a link straight to it on the floor plan — for example Rita test HQ · Floor 1 · N1.

The message goes out on the channels you selected, and includes a Manage notification settings link so employees can control what they hear from Gable.

💡 Nothing is sent until you publish. Editing a scenario, renaming it, or discarding it never notifies anyone.
