Edit a Recipe's Meal Pattern

How to update crediting calculation

Written by Souha Alameddine

Meal pattern credits are calculated automatically from a recipe's ingredients and their amounts, following USDA rounding rules: down to the nearest ¼ for grain and meat/meat alternative, and the nearest ⅛ for fruits and vegetables. See About Recipes in Gaia for the full calculation model.

A component may not show, or may credit less than expected, if an ingredient's amount rounds down, or if the ingredient's meal component isn't set correctly on the item itself. Use Override below to correct a specific value when needed.

Override and Edit Nutrition Information for a Recipe

To update the meal pattern credits on a recipe, navigate to the Nutrition tab then click "Override"

Edit calculated value

1. Click in the text field that is added next to existing credits to change the calculated value then type the desired amount.

2. To delete a credit, click in the text field next to the calculated value then type 0 as the new value.

Add a meal pattern category

1. To add a missing credit type, click on the + "plus" button

1. Select the credit type.

3. Then click in the text field and enter the desired value.

Published recipe values

The recipe has to be published for the updated values to be applied. While the calculated values are always stored in the editing view, the published recipe will only show the adjust values, and will hide any credits that were changed to 0.

11. Click "Remove overrides"

12. Click "Publish Changes"
