Fixings

Fixings are condiments, toppings, or accompaniments that are served alongside a menu item but are not counted as ingredients in the recipe's nutritional or production calculation.

Recipe Fixings

A recipe fixing is tied to a specific recipe. It is added to the menu automatically when that recipe is on the menu.

Use recipe fixings for condiments or toppings that only make sense with a particular dish. Examples:

  • Taco sauce served with a taco recipe

  • Ranch dressing served with a chicken strips recipe

  • Croutons served with a Caesar salad recipe

Because the fixing is linked to the recipe, it will only show up on production records on days when that recipe is scheduled.

How to create A Fixing Recipe

  1. Create a recipe and specify serving size by grade group. For different serving sizes for a grade group, multiple recipes need to be created.

  2. Click the Recipe as Fixing toggle

These recipes can also be used as fixings and condiments not tied to a specific recipe.

Add them directly to the Condiments category on the menu plans for options that are always available and not specific to any one item. Examples:

  • Ketchup packets available at every lunch

  • Salt and pepper packets

  • Hot sauce available daily at a high school

How to add a Fixing to a recipe

  1. Open the recipe you want to add a fixing to. Navigate to the recipe in Pantry β†’ Recipes and click to open it.

  2. Scroll to the Fixings section on the recipe page.

  3. Click "+ Add Fixing" to choose the desired recipe.

  4. Repeat as many times as needed for a single recipe.
