Browser, Device, and Connection Requirements

Web App

The Gaia web app runs in modern desktop browsers. We recommend the current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari. JavaScript and cookies must be enabled.

The web app is designed primarily for laptop and desktop screens. Some pages, such as the weekly production view and the Pantry, are easier to use on a wider screen.

POS App

The POS app runs in modern desktop or tablet browsers. It must be paired to a Gaia terminal before service. See the Setting Up POS Terminals article for the registration steps.

Network and Offline Behavior

Gaia requires a network connection for most actions. The POS app can continue to record transactions if the network drops during service; the app stores them locally and syncs them to the server when the connection returns. The header bar on the POS app shows the current online status and the last sync time.

If you experience long outages, contact your district's IT lead and Gaia support.

Printers and Other Hardware

POS terminals can be paired with pin pads, scanners, and other supported peripherals. Hardware setup is covered in the Integrations and Hardware section.
