Menu Announcements
The announcement panel lets you post a message on your public menu that families see, for example a holiday closure, a special event, or a note about a temporary substitution.
The announcement is configured on the public menu template, so it applies wherever that template is used.
An announcement has a title, an optional feature image, and a rich-text content area, so you can add formatting, links, and images.
Only a Child Nutrition Director can edit the announcement; other users see it as read-only.
To set one up, open the public menu template settings, fill in the announcement panel title and content, and add a feature image if you want one. It appears on the public menu for any menu plan using that template.
Translating the Public Menu
You can publish your public menu in additional languages so families can read it in their preferred language.
Open the public menu settings for the menu plan.
Choose a language from the selector. Currently Spanish and Chinese are supported.
Click Translate. You will be asked to confirm: "Any offerings on this menu without an existing [language] translation will be translated."
Confirm to proceed.
Translation is incremental. Only offerings that do not already have a translation in the selected language are translated, so you can safely re-run it after adding new recipes. Families switch languages themselves using the language chip on the public menu.
Tip: Re-run translation after you add or rename recipes on the menu so the new items appear in every language.
