Shopping used to run one way: from the production records page you clicked Shop week, and Gaia built orders for the whole week, all at once. Now the same button lets you shop any window you want (a single day, a few days, a partial week, or several weeks), restrict the run to one vendor, and review a preview laid out as a calendar before anything is ordered. Shopping a shorter or overlapping window is safe: it will never lower quantities an earlier shop already placed.

Shopping reads confirmed production records. Days that aren't confirmed yet won't be included, so confirm your forecasts for the days you want to shop first.

On the production records page, click Smart Shopping (the basket icon). The dialog is titled Shop, and it will create and/or update orders for all confirmed production records in the window you choose.

You'll see two options:

Alongside the date window, you can pick a vendor. Smart Shopping then only sources from that vendor for those days, which is what you want when you are deliberately placing an order with one supplier rather than shopping everything you need.

Items that vendor does not carry are left out of the run rather than sourced from someone else. Leave the vendor blank to shop every vendor as before.

Click Preview orders. Nothing is ordered yet. Gaia lays out your whole shop window as a calendar: one column per day of the week, one row per week, with a card in each day for every vendor delivering that day. Two vendors on the same day means two cards stacked in that cell.

Cards start collapsed, showing the vendor and how many items are on it. Open a card to see the lines, with the item and the quantity Gaia intends to order. Central kitchen vendors are tagged with a Central Kitchen chip.

If there's nothing to order for the window you picked, you'll see "Nothing to order for the selected window."

When a vendor delivers on more than one day inside your window, Gaia splits that vendor's items across those days, putting each item on the delivery that best matches when you need it. That means one vendor can appear as cards on two different days. Two controls let you change that:

These controls appear only when a vendor has more than one delivery in your window, since there's nothing to split otherwise. Skip is turned off while a vendor is consolidated. Every change updates the preview right away, and nothing is written until you assign.

Consolidate and Skip can also be turned off per vendor, in that vendor's settings, for vendors whose contract terms or delivery capacity do not support them. Both are on unless someone turns one off. If a vendor's card shows neither control, that is why.

When the preview looks right, click Assign to orders. Gaia writes the draft orders and shows a confirmation with the number of orders updated. From there you place and receive them the usual way (see Place and Receive an Order).
