Create new item
1. Click "+ Create Item"
2. Type the item name (required) and display / custom code (optional). Each item will always have a unique system generated code, if Item Code is left blank the system generated code will be used as the display / custom code
3. Select a category. This is a required field. The list of categories is customizable for each district. Each category will be classified as Food or Non-Food.
4. Add Manufacturer Name. This is not required for item creation and may be left blank.
5. Add manufacturer code. This is not required for item creation and may be left blank.
6. Add the base measurement amount. This is a required field and must be numerical characters only.
7. Select a base measurement unit. This is a required field and must be a weight or volume unit from the dropdown. "Each" and other conversion may be added later.
8. Select allergens from the drop down. This is a required field, if there are no allergens select None and if not sure choose Unknown.
9. Select special diets from the drop down. This is an optional field and may be left blank.
10. Select attributes from the drop down. These are attributes related to USDA compliance. This is an optional field and may be left blank.
11. Unlimited tags can be added to an item. Type the desired text then click enter. This is an optional field and may be left blank.
Tags can be used as a search criteria or as a filter for search results. (coming soon: ability to reuse tags from a dropdown)
12. Add a picture by clicking the upload button or by dragging the image directly into the edit wizard. This is an optional field.
13. Click "Create".
14. Spec sheets and other attachments can be added by clicking Upload in the Documents section.
15. Nutrition details are added by clicking Edit in the Nutrition Sheet section
16. Nutrition values can be numerical characters only, including decimals. Navigate using Enter or the up and down buttons. Click Add Nutrition fact to add more data types.
17. Add credits by clicking in the meal component. Values can be entered as fractions or decimals.
18. Weight to volume or Each conversion are managed under nutrition facts. In this example, 1 serving of Turkey taco filling is equal to 1.72 ounces
19. First enter the information for the new conversion in the way you want it to be displayed, starting with the amount (numerical value). For our example that is '1'.
20. Then add the display unit. In this example, 'serving'.
21. Then add the equivalent amount relative to the base measurement or another EXISTING measurement.
22. Select the conversion unit. If the base amount is a weight, the conversion unit must be a weight. If the base amount is a volume, the conversion unit must be a volume.
After ONE weight to volume conversion is added, all standard volume and weight measurement become available.
23. Click "Save & Close"
24. Edit ingredient statement. This is optional and accepts any characters.
Add Purchasing Details
25. Vendor Products represent the different ways an item is procured. Click Add to enter new products.
26. First select a vendor.
27. The Vendor Product name will default to the item name. This can be edited to have the exact name the vendor uses in their system or for file exports.
The Vendor Product code should be the code the vendor uses in their system or for file exports.
28. Next add the package size. If you have existing packages or conversions, you can select them from the drop down. If you don't see the required package size, you can create it directly in the edit wizard by clicking add new packaging unit.
This new packaging unit will automatically be added to the list of conversions on the nutrition details panel.
29. In this example, the purchasing units 1 Case of 30 pounds of turkey filling .
When added from the Vendor Product panel, the package amount is defaulted to '1'. Add the name of the packaging.
30. Then select the conversion unit and type the equivalent amount relative to it.
31. Add price
32. Choose which order guides to have it available on.
33. Click "Save"
