Within the Product Decisions tool, each capability has a forecasted value, indicated by the position of the capability dot. The circle around each dot indicates the likely forecast value range of movement. Within the CSV data download, this number is indicated by a variation score in both positive and negative directions (column “Forecasted Satisfaction Variation (+/-)”). Within the CSV file, each score projection has a corresponding confidence rating (column “Forecast Confidence”) based on the number of historical observations utilized in the projection.
What is “Trend Category” in the User Needs Forecast CSV file?
“Trend Category” indicates which capabilities are most likely to be of interest to a product manager in the market. If a capability is Trending Up, it is moving towards the Key Opportunities quadrant in the Product Decisions grid. If a capability is Trending Down, it is projected to move out of the Key Opportunities quadrant and/or is moving towards the Overserved quadrant. To be categorized as “Trending Up” or “Trending Down,” there must be an above average amount of project movement for that capability.
