Prior to an event
Before you join your first Gatheround, here are some tips to make sure your camera and mic will connect successfully:
Ensure any tools that use camera & mic (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, FaceTime, etc.) are completely closed out.
Use a supported browser: Safari, Chrome and Firefox are preferred. Browsers like Brave and Edge are less reliable and may cause issues connecting with Gatheround.
Turn off your VPN and/or switch networks if you know your company’s network may use firewalls to block new sites.
You can also test whether your camera and mic will be able to connect to Gatheround by testing your connection with this network testing page. This should take less than 30 seconds. If any of the tests “fail”, the participant should turn off their VPN, and try again.
Pro tip: If you are a host, sending the above guidance to your participants before your next event is a great way to mitigate any tech issues during an event!
For a more permanent solution to connectivity issues, you can share these configuration settings with your company’s IT team. Following these guidelines will disarm firewalls from preventing your connection to Gatheround.
During an Event
If you or your participants are having trouble connecting your camera and mic to Gatheround during your event, make sure all of the following is true:
All tools that use camera & mic (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, FaceTime, etc.) are completely closed out.
You are using a supported browser: Safari, Chrome or Firefox
You are not using a VPN
If all of the above steps have been taken, please try a hard refresh on your device (command + shift + r) or restarting your device to be sure your settings are updated.
