AI Summary
Updated over 5 months ago

Our AI Summaries feature turns meeting transcripts into easy-to-digest summaries, helping teams stay aligned and up to speed.

*Gatheround AI is currently in beta.

What is it?

Gatheround’s AI Summary condenses the content of your event or meeting into a concise overview, including a bulleted outline and next steps. It’s a simple, streamlined way to keep participants on the same page and share context after a gathering is over.

How does it work?

When the AI Summary feature is enabled, we transcribe your event and then prompt large language models (LLMs) to process the content of the transcript.

This generates a short summary, which is delivered to the host and participants via the post-event email. The summary is also available in your event recap, along with your event data (Bonus: when you opt for summarization, you also get a detailed transcript. ) Recaps are generated after 15 mins of inactivity in the event room.

Visit your group settings. Under “Event artifacts,” select “AI summary with transcript” as your preferred transcript format. (You can also choose a default transcript, which doesn’t produce a summary.)

Toggle “Turn on for all events in the group” to automatically enable the AI summary feature for all events hosted by your group.

If you prefer to generate AI Summaries for only certain events, you can turn on the feature from within an individual Gatheround event.

When AI Summary is turned on, there will be a system notification shown to all participants, and an indicator on the top left to show the event is being transcribed.

What if I don’t want a summary of my meeting?

If you don’t need a summary, you can select the other option, “Default transcript,” or skip transcription completely. For more information on our default transcripts, see our article on Transcripts.

A note on AI tools

Any artificial intelligence tool is imperfect. They can make mistakes, create disinformation, and even cause harm. They are also a product of the biases of the people who create them.

We’ve worked hard and thought a lot about how to make this AI tool helpful: a net good for improving inclusion, equity, and communication in virtual gatherings. We believe we have succeeded, but we always proceed with caution and recommend anyone using AI tools (in Gatheround or elsewhere) do the same.
