How Do Different Bet Types Work?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Single Bet

A single bet is the simplest (and most common) type of bet. You’re just betting on one outcome in one event.

How it works

You pick one market and one outcome (for example: “Team A to win”). If you’re right, you win.

Payout calculation

Stake x Odds.

Example

You place a SGD 10 single bet on Team A to win at 2.0 odds.

If Team A wins, your payout is SGD 20 (SGD 10 × 2.0 = SGD 20).

Combo Bet

A combo bet (also called an Accumulator or Parlay) links two or more selections together, usually across different events. The big catch: every selection must win for the combo to pay out.

How it works

The odds for each selection are multiplied to create the total odds for the combo. This can lead to a higher payout than single bets, but it’s riskier because if even one selection loses, the entire combo loses.

Payout calculation

Stake × (Odds of Selection 1 x Odds of Selection 2 x …)

Example

You place a SGD 10 combo bet with three selections:

  • Match 1: Team A to win @ 2.0 odds

  • Match 2: Team B to win @ 1.8 odds

  • Match 3: Over 2.5 goals @ 2.2 odds

Total odds: 2.0 x 1.8 x 2.2 = 7.92

Potential payout: SGD 10 x 7.92 = 79.20

All three selections must win to receive the payout. If even one loses, the whole combo loses.

System Bet

A system bet is basically a bundle of combo bets created from a group of selections you choose. It’s a way to reduce risk compared to a straight combo, because you can still win something even if not every selection is correct.

How it works

You pick a set of selections (say 4), then choose a “system” like 2/4 or 3/4:

  • 2/4 means you’re betting on every possible 2-selection combo that can be made from your 4 picks

  • 3/4 means every possible 3-selection combo from your 4 picks

So instead of placing one combo bet where everything must hit, you’re placing multiple smaller combos automatically. For example, a 2/4 system creates 6 separate combo bets (every possible pair from 4 selections).

Payout calculation

Each combo is settled on its own. Your total return is the sum of the payouts from all the winning combos. System bet payouts can get complicated as the number of selections grows, so it’s usually easiest to use an online system bet calculator to check the possible outcomes.

Example

You place a 2/3 system bet on three selections:

  • Selection A @ 2.0

  • Selection B @ 1.8

  • Selection C @ 2.2

A 2/3 system generates three 2-selection combos:

  • A + B

  • A + C

  • B + C

If only A and B win (and C loses):

  • A + B wins: 2.0 × 1.8 = 3.6

  • A + C loses

  • B + C loses

If your stake is split evenly across the combos (SGD 15 total stake → SGD 5 per combo):

Payout for A + B: SGD 5 × 3.6 = SGD 18

Total return: SGD 18
