What are Asian Markets?

What are Asian markets?

Asian markets are betting options that give you a bit more flexibility than “win or lose”. They do this by adding extra outcomes like partial wins, partial losses, or refunds (returns).

The easiest way to think about it is this: a lot of Asian lines “split” your stake into two smaller bets. Depending on the final score, one half might win while the other half is refunded (or lost).

Below are some common examples, with the exact payouts shown

Goals Asian Handicap

With Goals Asian Handicap, you’re backing a team — but with a head start (positive handicap +) or a handicap (negative handicap -) applied before kick-off.

  • The favourite usually has a negative handicap (-)

  • The underdog usually has a positive handicap (+)

Depending on the result, your bet can:

  • win fully

  • win partially

  • be refunded (returned) fully or partially

  • lose

0.25 Handicap

A 0.25 (“quarter-goal”) Asian Handicap gives one team a virtual 0.25-goal head start/deficit for settlement purposes.

What that means

  • If you bet the favourite at -0.25 and the match is a draw, you lose half your stake and get half back

  • If you bet the underdog at +0.25 and the match is a draw, you win half your stake (at full odds) and get half back

Example

Sevilla vs Villarreal

You bet SGD 100 on Sevilla -0.25 @ 1.65:

  • Sevilla wins → you get back SGD 165 (your SGD 100 stake + SGD 65 profit)

  • Draw → you get back SGD 50 (SGD 50 refunded, SGD 50 lost)

  • Villarreal wins → you get back SGD 0 (you lose the full SGD 100 stake)

0.75 Handicap

A 0.75 (“three-quarter goal”) Asian Handicap gives one team a virtual 0.75-goal head start/deficit for settlement purposes.

Example

Real Sociedad @ 1.55 vs Athletic Bilbao @ 2.50.

You bet SGD 100 on Real Sociedad -0.75.

How it’s settled

  • Real Sociedad wins by 2+ goals → you get back SGD 155 (SGD 100 stake + SGD 55 profit)

  • Real Sociedad wins by exactly 1 goal → you get back SGD 127.50 (SGD 50 refunded + SGD 77.50 winnings)

  • Draw or Athletic Bilbao wins → you get back SGD 0 (you lose the full SGD 100 stake)

1.25 Handicap

A 1.25 (“one-and-a-quarter goal”) Asian Handicap gives the underdog a virtual 1.25-goal head start (or the favourite a 1.25-goal deficit) for settlement purposes.

Example

Inter @ 1.70 vs Lecce @ 2.10

You bet SGD 100 on Lecce +1.25.

How it’s settled

  • Lecce wins or it’s a draw → you get back SGD 210 (SGD 100 stake + SGD 110 profit)

  • Lecce loses by exactly 1 goal → you get back SGD 155 (SGD 50 refunded + SGD 105 winnings)

  • Lecce loses by 2+ goals → you get back SGD 0 (you lose the full SGD 100 stake)

Total Goals Asian

In this market, you’re betting on how many goals are scored in the entire match, no matter which team scores them. Since Asian goal lines are split, some results can lead to partial wins, partial losses, or refunds.

Here are a few examples to show how this works:

Total Goals Asian 2.25

Match: Brighton vs Brentford

Selections: Over 2.25 @ 1.75 | Under 2.25 @ 1.65

If you bet SGD 100 on Over 2.25:

  • 3+ goals → you get back SGD 175

  • Exactly 2 goals → you get back SGD 50 (SGD 50 refunded, SGD 50 lost)

  • 0–1 goal → you get back SGD 0

If you bet SGD 100 on Under 2.25:

  • 0–1 goal → you get back SGD 165

  • Exactly 2 goals → you get back SGD 132.50 (SGD 50 refunded + SGD 82.50 winnings)

  • 3+ goals → you get back SGD 0

Total Goals Asian 2.75

Match: Lille vs Nantes

Selections: Over 2.75 @ 1.80 | Under 2.75 @ 1.50

If you bet SGD 100 on Over 2.75:

  • 4+ goals → you get back SGD 180

  • Exactly 3 goals → you get back SGD 140 (SGD 50 refunded + SGD 90 winnings)

  • 0–2 goals → you get back SGD 0

If you bet SGD 100 on Under 2.75:

  • 0–2 goals → you get back SGD 150

  • Exactly 3 goals → you get back SGD 50 (SGD 50 refunded, SGD 50 lost)

  • 4+ goals → you get back SGD 0

Asian Markets in a Combo

You can include Asian markets in combo bets.

If one leg is settled as a half win/half refund (or half loss/half refund), the combo still stands — but that leg’s odds are adjusted before the final payout is calculated.

Here’s an example of how that will look like in a combo bet:

Combo Bet Example

Total stake: SGD 100 (2 selections)

Leg 1: Manchester City to win @ 1.80

Result: Win

Leg 2: Brighton vs Brentford — Under 2.25 @ 1.75

Final score: 1–1 (2 goals)

Settlement of Leg 2:

  • Half the stake wins, half is refunded

  • Adjusted odds for this leg: 1.375

Final settlement

  • Adjusted combo odds: 1.80 × 1.375 = 2.475

  • Total payout: SGD 247.50 (SGD 100 stake + SGD 147.50 profit)
