This guide will walk you through the process of analyzing your inventory in Genie. By following these steps, you'll be able to generate insightful reports and make data-driven decisions about your stock levels.

Sometimes, just looking at your inventory isn't enough. You need structured insights to help you determine which products need reordering, which aren't selling, and much more.

So, we’ve put together this quick guide to help you analyze your inventory effectively.

The example we will use for this guide is a view to identify what products are at risk of stocking out, however, the process can be generalized to anything you'd like a deeper look into on your table.

1. Identify Products Using Filters

Filters allow you to sort and organize your products based on specific criteria, such as category, stock levels, price, or supplier, making inventory management easier. By adding multiple filters, you can refine your search to display only the products that match your needs. This helps you identify trends, manage stock efficiently, and quickly find the right products.

Before diving into your inventory analysis, start by filtering your products. To manage your inventory effectively, apply filters to identify products that need attention. Set the ‘Status’ filter to ‘Running Low’ to find items that may need replenishment. Add a ‘Days to Order’ filter to spot products likely to run out soon.

To identify dead stock, filter for products with the ‘Status is No Sales,’ showing items that haven’t sold in the set timeframe. Lastly, apply the ‘Status’ filter with conditions like ‘Running Low’ and ‘Out of Stock’ to see all items needing immediate restocking.

2. Customize Your Columns

To simplify your view and ensure you see only relevant data, customize your inventory table by adding, removing, or rearranging columns. Use the eye icon to select columns like ‘Location’ or ‘Shopify Price’ for better visibility. You can also reorder columns by dragging them using the six-dot handle. If you need a new column added in the future, you can Fill out this form and provide details on what you need.

3. Save Your View for Future Use

Once you’ve set up your ideal filters and columns, save this view for quick access in the future. Consider naming it something like ‘Reorder Products’ so you can easily pull it up whenever needed. Even after saving your view, you can still make adjustments or refine it further. Simply click on the view and update it when you're done.
