This article will guide you through the process of matching vendors to their related products in Genie using the Import Shopify Vendors feature. By following these
steps, you can ensure that your supplier relationships remain accurate and organized.
Understanding Vendor Imports in Genie
The Import Shopify Vendors feature allows you to seamlessly bring in vendor information from Shopify into Genie. This ensures that the supplier-product relationships are properly mapped, streamlining your inventory and purchasing processes.
Before proceeding with the import, it’s important to:
Ensure that the vendor is correctly set up in Genie and does not already exist in the system.
Confirm that vendor names do not conflict with existing supplier names in Genie based on the suppliers associated with Shopify.
Be aware that vendor costs and supplier SKUs will need to be manually updated after import, as they are not automatically transferred.
How to Import Shopify Vendors
Step 1: Ensure Your Vendor is Set Up Correctly
The first step is to verify that the vendor is correctly set up in Shopify. Since the information imported into Genie is based on Shopify’s supplier data, it is essential that your vendors are properly linked.
Step 2: Check for Duplicate Vendors
Before importing, check if a vendor with the same name already exists in Genie. If there are duplicate suppliers in Genie with the same name as your Shopify vendors, they must be removed before proceeding with the import. Otherwise, the vendor will not appear in the import list.
Step 3: Import Your Shopify Vendors
After checking for duplicates, click the "Import Shopify Vendors" button. This will automatically create the vendors you select from the list and maintain their relationships.
If you notice a vendor missing from the list, there are two possible reasons:
The vendor doesn't exist in Shopify.
The vendor has already been created.
If you believe the vendor should be showing up, check your list of suppliers to confirm its status.
Step 4: Select Vendors and Click Import
From the import list, select the vendors you wish to add to Genie, then click Import. This will create the vendors and establish their supplier relationships.
Step 5: Confirmation of Successful Import
A confirmation message will appear, indicating that the vendors have been successfully imported. You can now review the imported supplier details in Genie.
Managing Your Imported Vendors
Once vendors are imported, follow these guides to ensure they are properly configured:
1. Locate and Verify Your Imported Supplier
Scroll through your supplier list in Genie to find the newly imported vendor. Click on their name to review their details. Upon selecting the supplier, you will see that all related products from Shopify have been mapped correctly. These products are now associated with the imported supplier in Genie.
2. View Products in the Inventory Table with Supplier Filter
Click on any product linked to the supplier to view its details in the Inventory Table. To quickly locate products associated with a specific supplier, use the Supplier Filter in Genie. This feature helps streamline inventory management by displaying only the relevant supplier-product relationships.
3. Adjust Supplier Information if Needed
If there are missing details, such as supplier contact information, SKUs, or unit costs, you must manually update them:
Navigate to the Suppliers tab in the product profile.
Update unit costs and supplier SKUs as they are not automatically imported.
Add missing supplier details, such as contacts and documents, to keep records complete.
Future enhancements may further streamline vendor imports by integrating additional supplier details automatically. In the meantime, ensuring proper vendor setup and post-import updates will help maintain accurate supplier-product relationships in Genie.
