When making well-informed, data-driven decisions, there is no greater tool than reports—well, outside of foresight.
Reports help uncover how your products and business operate and when designed properly, can help avoid disaster. It is for that reason our team at Genie has curated our reports to be as insightful as possible. We want every decision to be well-informed and backed by solid data.
So, welcome to our guide on everything Genie reporting!
In this guide, I will give you an overview of the feature and then go into the steps to configure, create, and view your reports within Genie. Let's jump right into it.
Reporting Overview
Genie offers a robust reporting system that, by default, offers reports on Stockouts, Out-of-Stock, Dead Stock, and Sales Velocity. Each of these reports shows data on your products based on their status.
For example, when you select to view the Stockout Risk report, you will see the products at risk of stocking out coupled with metrics like, on hand, average weekly sales, and the stockout date. This gives you an idea of when you will need to order new stock and the priority level of each product. You may choose to restock products that are selling higher volumes sooner than those that aren't selling much at all.
The idea is to ensure that you are aware of product statuses at all times without manually searching for them.
Genie also stores all previously generated reports within each of the report types. So, if you are interested in how well you have maintained stock levels or want to compare any improvements in sales velocity you can easily view them all in one place.
Additionally, you can request custom reports within Genie. But, before we get into that, let's go over how to configure the reports tab to your liking.
Configuring Reporting
You will notice that each report shows you when to expect the next report, how often the report is generated, and what time it is available. Each of these settings can be adjusted in just a few clicks.
Step 1: Select the report you want to make changes to. Here we will select Stockout Risk Alert.
Step 2: Select the Edit icon in the top right-hand side of the menu. This will bring you to the Report Configuration page.
Step 3: Specify the Frequency, Schedule, and Period you would like associated with that report.
If you frequently worry about the state of your inventory, you can set it to generate a report every morning spanning the last 30 days. Alternatively, if you are confident in your inventory planning you can set it to generate a report once a month that encompasses the last 60 or even 90 days. It all comes down to preference.
Step 4: Don't forget to save!
Now, what about creating new reports you might ask. Well, currently there isn't a way to create custom reports through the app. However, you can request a new report to be made by the Genie team.
This process is straightforward.
All you need to do on your end is select the Request Report button at the top of the page. Then provide the necessary details for the type of report you would like the Genie team to create.
For example, you can request a report on overstocked products that have an avg. daily sale of over 2. Or what size/color variants of a specific products have no sales over the last X amount of days.
Once the Genie team has created the report you will be notified that it is ready to be viewed.
As a whole, our reports serve as an additional information hub for you to get a better understanding of how your products are performing and their statuses. We hope that this overview was helpful and we are here to assist you if you need any further guidance. Happy analyzing!
