In this guide, we will be showcasing Product Profiles.

Product profiles are a more detailed view of the product, its associated variants, and the settings, suppliers, and costs attributed to them. These views can be helpful when you want to know about performance or change the settings just for a single product and its variants. You can configure stock-level settings, suppliers, tags, and unit costs. What makes this feature even better is you can access a product's profile from anywhere you can see the product's name. This applies to POs, the favorites tab, reports, and the dashboard.

To view a product's profile click on the name of the product. This will prompt a preview window to pop up with additional information on the product you selected.

What info can you see?

The product profiles provide a lot of information about the product you are viewing. When you first open it you will see the details tab. Here you can see:

  • Primary Supplier

  • Location

  • Stock Levels

  • Number of variants

  • Daily Sales

  • Cost Value

  • Retail Value

  • Shopify Status

  • Tags

These details make it easy to see how the product as a whole is performing, showing the main metrics you may find yourself looking for regularly. You can also view all of the variants of that product including a few key metrics to help you gauge performance. So, if you have a lot of variants for a specific product, but don't want to spend the time to search for them in the inventory table, checking the product profile of one of them may prove to be a time saver.

Alongside the details and variant info, you can also find settings for the product. We have tried to incorporate settings for the main adjustments you would be making to your products. This includes managing suppliers, stock level settings, and unit costs. We won't go into too much detail, as we have a few other articles walking through these settings in more detail.

For some quick context. You can assign suppliers to products at an individual level, effectively ensuring that the insights Genie generates are as accurate as possible for that product. Additionally, you can assign more than one and switch between them at any time allowing for more flexibility. The same applies to the stock-level settings. Managing your stock settings within the product profile allows you to fine-tune stock on a per-item basis, rather than relying on the global insight settings.

As for the unit prices, you can change them within the profile and apply them to all variants. Simple right?

Product profiles offer more flexibility in your stock and provide a more accessible and detailed look into the performance of product variants. What may not look like much compared to many of the other features Genie offers, can be a powerful tool in tracking and managing your favorite products.
