Suppliers are key components of tracking and managing your products effectively with Genie. Without them, you miss out on a lot of context and information around your products like:
Lead times
Unit costs
Supplier SKUs
Accurate PO tracking
Ensuring you have suppliers imported into Genie gives you the ability to more accurately track orders and improves workflows, removing the need to manually input a lot of the information you need.
This article will walk you through the process of setting up suppliers and getting them ready to be associated with your products.
Setting Up a Supplier
Step 1: Open Genie and click on Suppliers in the navigation tab.
Step 2: Click on Create Supplier located to the right of the search bar.
Step 3: Fill in the supplier details in the appropriate boxes on the form. In order for Genie to provide accurate insights into your products you must include an average lead time. The lead time should reflect the average duration from placing an order to receiving it in the warehouse.
Step 4: Configure a minimum order quantity. If the supplier doesn't require a minimum order cost, leave this field blank.
If the supplier does require a minimum order quantity then specify whether the minimum order quantity applies to the entire purchase order or per SKU and variant. Then enter that MOQ.
Step 5: Next, you can add any relevant notes about the supplier if applicable.
Step 6: Enter the supplier's address and contact information. While this step is optional, it's recommended to have a primary contact.
Step 7: Finally you can click Save to finalize the supplier setup.
Once the supplier is set up, you can view and edit their information at any time, including lead time and minimum order quantity.
Assigning Suppliers to Products
Now let's quickly go over how to add suppliers to your products. If you want a more in-depth look at how to manage suppliers and configure insights on individual products you can learn more here.
First, you will want to go to the Inventory tab and select a product. Then navigate to the settings in the product's profile.
Within this settings tab, you can add suppliers to the product.
Here you can also add the unit price of the item and its associated variants. If the product has multiple suppliers, enter the unit price for each supplier.
Once you have updated the suppliers and unit prices you can apply the changes to all variants.
Managing suppliers with Genie is a straightforward process that enhances inventory management. The supplier profile also serves as a repository for supplier-related documents such as contracts, price lists, and invoices.
