Profile Settings vs General Settings

Written by Camila

There are two separate settings areas in Spear. Knowing which one to use saves time and avoids confusion.

Quick answer

There are two settings in Spear — here's the difference in one line:

  • Profile Settings = your name, top-left → just you (ICP, calendar, exclusions)

  • Org Settings = gear icon, bottom-left → whole team (integrations, profiles, team members)

How to find Org Settings:

This is the most common source of confusion — so let's clear it up:

Setting type

Where to find it

What it controls

Profile Settings

Your name/avatar, top-left of the sidebar

ICP, calendar link, excluded companies — just your profile

Org Settings

Gear icon, bottom-left of the sidebar

Team members, integrations, profiles — affects the whole org

Quick rule: If it affects the whole team → gear icon, bottom-left. If it's just for you → your name, top-left.

Profile Settings

Profile Settings apply to a specific outreach profile — they control elements like ICP, excluded companies, LinkedIn connections, calendar link, operating user, and notifications.

Org Settings (General Settings)

General Settings apply to the entire organization/workspace — they control team members, integrations, profiles, and global configurations that affect all profiles.

To get there: Look for the gear icon at the very bottom of the left sidebar — not your profile picture, not your name.

When to use which

  • Use Profile Settings for anything specific to one LinkedIn profile (ICP, calendar link, excluded companies)

  • Use Org Settings for team management, integrations (HubSpot, Salesforce), and organization-wide configurations
