Spear Plays are ready-made routines (recurring tasks) maintained by our team. Instead of building a routine from a blank canvas, you can browse the catalog and add a play to your profile in one click.
Where to find them
Go to Setup > Routines in the left panel. Setup is a collapsible section, so click it to expand it if it's closed.
On the Routines page:
Click Spear plays (top right) to browse the catalog of ready-made plays.
Click + New routine (top right) if you'd rather build your own routine.
You can also start from a tool. See Find plays from the Tools page below.
Your Routines page
The Routines page lists the recurring plays for your profile. Each one shows:
Its name and a short description of what it does
Its schedule, for example "Every Monday, 09:00", "Monthly on day 1, 09:00", or "Every 6 hours from 03:00"
The last run and a summary of what happened, once it has run
A toggle to turn it on or off. Toggle a routine off to pause it anytime. A paused routine is marked Paused.
Use the search box to find a routine by name, and the Status filter to narrow the list.
Browsing Spear plays
Recommended for you: this row only shows plays that use tools your profile has already connected, so there's no extra setup needed to try them. Each card tells you why it's recommended (e.g. "Because HubSpot is connected"). A play drops off this row once you've added it.
All Plays: below the recommended row, browse the full catalog, including plays that need a tool you haven't connected yet.
Organized by category: plays are grouped into categories, sorted alphabetically within each one. The categories are:

Warm intros & network
Events & communities
Content & engagement
Reports & insights
Follow ups and suggestions
Preview before adding: each play shows what it does, its timing, and which data sources it needs, along with whether you're already connected to each one.
Find plays from the Tools page
Every tool card on Setup > Tools shows a plays line:
Tool not connected: the line lists the plays you unlock by connecting it.
Tool connected: the line lists the plays it powers.
Click the plays line to see them. You can add a play to your profile from there, or connect the missing tool first if the play needs one you haven't connected yet.
Two more places Spear points you to plays:
Right after you connect a tool: Spear offers to add the plays that tool now powers.
One-time popup: lists the ready plays for tools you had already connected. Click Add all to add them at once.

Adding a play to your profile
Adding a play forks it into a normal routine that's fully yours. It shows up on your
Routines page, and you can edit it however you like. It's no longer linked to the original play, so future updates we make to the play won't touch your copy.
Routines can run every few hours (every 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, or 12 hours), daily, every few days, weekly, or monthly. Daily and slower routines run at a time of day you choose. To change how often a routine you added runs, see How to Build a Routine.
