There may be situations or you may choose, to fill out the Fact Find with your client during an in-person meeting or on their behalf over an online meeting where you share screens.
This may be a choice of your advice process, or because the client does not wish to do things online. Whatever the reasons are, Trail has you covered by making it easy to go through the Fact Find WITH your client π
In this article you will learn:
Where to go to do this
How to go through Fact Find:

Where to go
Option 1
Have Trail open and create a new Opportunity.
At the end of creating a new opportunity, click "Enter Application Editor"
This should take you straight into the correct page on their Profile.
Option 2
Have Trail open, jump onto their Profile (make sure to set to "Client View" to hide sensitive information/ tagging):
Then proceed to the "Application" part of their Profile - choose the correlating Opportunity:
Option 3
You may not have a specific Advice open, in which case you can just jump to "Position" on their profile and fill out their Statement of Position.
How to go through Fact Find
Clicking each section on the left, will allow you to enter in the client's details into that page.
For Mortgage Advice
This is straightforward - you can go through the Fact Find sections on the left sidebar:
For Insurance Advice
You have the standard options here of going down the sidebar:
Using the Client Page
But with Insurance Advice, there is a higher chance you may choose to go through a Fact Find (and Needs Analysis) with your client, so Trail has designed an accessible portal called the "Client Page" within the adviser side of Trail to make this a seamless process!
Simply click "Go to client page" on the first accessible page here:
You will then be asked who is in attendance - select which of client is (can be both):
You will then be able to proceed and go through the questions in each Fact Find section. This is a mirror of what you see on the adviser side, the ONLY difference is that this is more client-friendly in its polished appearance and using your branding colours:
Remember the 3 dashes on the top left will bring up the menu so you have an option to go back to the usual Adviser side whenever you would like by clicking "Back to Insurance Editor".
If you go all the way to the end of the Needs Analysis portion, you will then view your declaration and disclosure (stage 2) with your client, and by clicking the "Submit" at the end of the Disclosure page, it will bring you back to the adviser side of Trail.
For Kiwisaver Advice
Exactly as per Insurance Advice - you can either go down the sidebar with your client on the adviser side of Trail:
Using the Client Page
Or you can go to the "Client page" by clicking this button below on (any) of the Fact Find pages:
You will then be able to proceed in this portal, which is basically a mirror of the adviser side, the only difference is purely the polished professional appearance with your branding colours!
Final Checks & Next Steps
Remember to "tick" the section off as you go! You will need to fill out the 'required' fields (same with the Online Fact Find) in order to tick off π
