Best Practice before Creating SOAs
Before creating an SOA, it is important that you follow best practice so that the document comes out nearly ready to go from the start.
1. Finish all Previous Sections of the Application
Before generating your SOA for the first time, it is vital that you have gone through all of the previous sections of the application. These all correlate to important information that will flow into the SOA automatically if they have been filled out.
You can use the checkboxes next to each section to ensure any information you've entered is saved and ready to go into your KiwiSaver SOA document.
2. Ensure You've Reviewed Your SOA Templates
While you can always use the Trail Default SOA Template, we recommend reviewing this template in addition to checking out how you can create custom templates as well.
Creating an SOA
After you have completed all of the previous sections, you may navigate to the Statement of Advice section here:
It's a good idea to pick the correct SOA Template first, although you may always reset the document if needed. To do this, click the dropdown to choose a template here:
Now you can click View & Edit SOA to see the results π
This will open up a new tab in your browser with the SOA Editor, seen here:
In this view, you may add/remove information as you like and utilise the interactive graphs. You can think of this like a large editable Word Document or Google Document. In addition, the layout of the editing tools available to you follow the same order as what is seen on the SOA Template Settings Page.
We highly recommend setting up your SOA Templates to best suit your business first in order to minimise the amount of custom work you will need to do for each client. Ideally, you will only need to use the SOA Editor to make small edits.
Resetting your SOA
If you decide that another SOA Template will suit your client better, or if you feel the need to recommend a different fund, you may always reset your template here:
Resetting the SOA brings all content in the SOA editor back to its default original state for the template that you loaded. Anything you have manually typed or edited will be deleted.
Common Reasons to Reset your SOA
You may have loaded the incorrect KiwiSaver SOA Template and would like to swap to a different one.
You have have gone back into the Recommendation and changed your mind about what is best for your client, or you have added more funds to be compared.
You have gone back to the Provider Research page and added more information that you want to include in the SOA.
