Content pillars

The themes your content returns to, and why your feed depends on them.

A pillar is a theme your content keeps returning to. Three or four is normal. Each one has a share of your output and topics beneath it.

Why they matter more than they look

Your Discover For you feed is built from them. Along with the creators you track, the pillars are what Vamos matches videos against.

That has a direct consequence. Empty pillars mean Vamos cannot match anything to what you make, and the For you feed falls back to guessing from the creators you follow alone. Vague pillars produce a vague feed.

They also shape what your weekly brief counts as relevant, and what a Routine treats as your subject when you ask for ideas.

Writing good ones

A pillar is narrower than a category and broader than a topic.

Fitness is too broad to match anything usefully. How to squat is too narrow to fill a pillar. Training around a full-time job is a pillar, because it excludes things and a video either fits it or does not.

Under each pillar, add the topics you actually cover. Those do the matching work.

Shares

Each pillar carries a percentage of your output. Set them to reflect what you actually post rather than what you intend to post, because that is what makes the feed and the ideas match your real mix.

Keep at least one

The product will stop you removing the last one. Without any pillar there is nothing to build a feed from.

Pillars and core ideas are different

A pillar is what you talk about. A core idea is what you believe about it.

Training around a full-time job is a pillar. Consistency beats intensity for anyone with a job is a core idea. Vamos uses pillars to decide what is relevant and core ideas to decide what position to write from.
