Units are used as a standard for measurement of the same kind of quantity (think Unit of Measurement or UOM).
The selected unit displays in the report.
It also determines how the calculation is included in subtotaling.
Built-in Units
Giraffe comes pre-loaded with the following Units:
Select a unit
Select the Unit for your calculation from the dropdown in the calculation builder.
Unit selection is on the left side of the builder in the Information section.
A unit is required to save your calculation. Your calculation will also not compute a preview until a unit is selected.
If the calculation does not have units, you can select the Unitless option.
Quick-create a new unit
You can also create your own units to measure anything you want! Some popular ones are parking bays, residents, or jobs.
Type anything into the “Units” box. If it does not exist in the project yet, you’ll get a prompt to create the unit. Click the “create" button.
The unit is automatically applied to the current calculation. It will be selectable in other calculations in the current project.
