Filtering in Calculations

Designate which geometries to calculate with filters

Analytics calculations compute every geometry in the project that match the components selected.

For greater control, you can filter by any property values within the project to only include specific features in the calculation.

For instance, you may wish to set your calculation to only apply to geometries with the "residential" usage. Or, exclude any geometries which have a stack order greater than 1.

Filtering only works on calculations made with Property components.

Add a filter

While building a calculation, the filter selection is located at the bottom left of the builder.

Click "add filter" to select a property to filter by.

Select Filter Properties

The list of filterable properties appears on click.

The selections in the filter list reflect properties applied to geometries in your project. You will not see properties in the list if no geometries include them.

Search for properties in the list by typing something in the search box.

Or, scroll to find the property by name.

To the right of the property name, you can preview how many geometries in the project have the property assigned (i.e. 10 matches).

Configure Filter

Select a property from the list. Then, select or input the value you want to filter by.

Once you are done configuring the filter, click off the filter pop up to apply it.

You will have different filter options based on the type of data stored in the property.

Select/Text

Select one or more options from the list. When selecting more than one option, the filter will return results matching any of the selections (ie OR).

Select a Filter Options:

  • is

  • is not

Number

Input a numeric value.

Select a filter option:

  • Is

  • Is not

  • Greater Than

  • Greater than or equal to

  • Less Than

  • Less than or equal to

  • blank

  • not blank

Multiple Filters

Add as many filters as you like.

Filters are cumulative (ie AND).

  • The geometries included in the calculation will include all of the filters set.

  • Geometries that only include one of the filtered values but not the other(s) will not be included.

Preview Included Geometries

After configuring your calculation, a preview of your calculated values will appear in the result. You will also be notified of any unused components or evaluation errors in this section.

The count of included geometries appears here. You will notice this count change based on your applied filters.

Cycle through geometries with the left/right arrow buttons to confirm the geometries included are the expected result.

Edit & Delete Filters

To edit a filter, click the pill.

The filter selector will open. Change any settings you wish. Click off the selector to apply your changes.

To delete a filter, click the pill.

Click the bin icon to remove the filter from the calculation.

To clear all filters, click "clear filters."
