Campaign Pages on Give Lively are for receiving donations for specific causes. These pages only receive donations, no other kind of transaction.
The Core Profile is a unique kind of Campaign Page that is ready to process donations and share with donors immediately after your nonprofit is Give Lively approved. The Core Profile serves as your nonprofit's general purpose fundraising page for donations while you have a Give Lively account.
The other way the Core Profile is unique from your regular Campaign Pages is that it is the only Campaign Page that cannot be closed. The Core Profile remains open to receiving donations for as long as your nonprofit account remains active. All other Campaign Pages can be closed at will which stops them from receiving donations.
This article goes over all Core Profile and Campaign page features. Any differences will be noted in each section.
Navigation
You can get to the Core Profile by clicking on the "Core Profile" link in the navigation bar, or clicking on "Dashboard.". They both lead to the same page for editing the Basic Information of your Core Profile.
To get to Campaign Pages instead, click on "Campaign Pages" in the navigation bar. This will load a page with a list of all the Campaign Pages you have created. From there you can:
Make a new Campaign Page by clicking on "+Create a Campaign Page" at the top
Select a Campaign Page you want to edit by clicking on "Manage".
This will open up a general home page for the campaign where you can then navigate to the parts you'd like to edit
Duplicate a Campaign Page
Delete a Campaign Page entirely by clicking on the "X"
Click on the "Closed" tab to see all past Campaign Pages that have been closed.
Duplicate a Campaign Page
You can duplicate any existing Campaign Page, whether they're still active or they're closed. This will create a new Campaign page with all the same text and donation options as the original, but none of the donor data or donations carry over.
Delete A Campaign Page
You can only delete a Campaign Page if it has no donations made through it by clicking on the "X" button in the "Campaign Pages" menu. Once a Campaign has received donations it can only be closed. Deleting a campaign page will erase the page and the link to it entirely. This action cannot be reversed.
Basic Information
This section of your Core Profile and Campaign Pages is where you edit the words and settings of the page. The Core Profile also has settings that affect all your nonprofit pages as a whole. Campaign Page settings will only affect their specific pages.
Core Profile Basic Information
The Core Profile Basic Information page has a few editable fields that will affect your donor's experience with using your fundraising pages. Filling these out will set up your nonprofit's branding and general settings, which should be done before moving on to specific Campaign Page settings.
Every field is listed below with a description on what it does.
"Display Your Nonprofit's Name As" - Changes the name of your nonprofit wherever it appears on all pages you create.
"Your Mission Statement" - A text field to describe your nonprofit's mission to donors.
We recommend typing your mission statement into the text box instead of copy-pasting from another document to avoid formatting issues.
"Your Nonprofit's Website" - Paste your nonprofit's website URL into this field. Doing so will turn your nonprofit's logo into a clickable image that will send the user to your website.
"Set the Default Frequency" - This changes the pre-highlighted option on the Core Profile between the "One-Time" and "Monthly" options. This change will also reflect on any donation widgets that use the Core Profile page.
This does not force a donor to pick just one option, it only highlights one as the default when the donor loads the page.
"Set Your Nonprofit's Timezone" - This timezone choice affects the timestamps that are shown in your Admin Portal, as well as the timezone of donor data reports that you export.
"Allow donors to make donation private" - Checking this box enables donors to leave an anonymous donation on the fundraising page.
Anonymous donations still allow nonprofit admins to see the donor's name and email address in their own reports, but no one visiting the fundraising page online will be able to see the donor's name in the "Recent Donors" list.
"Enable Peer-to-Peer Fundraising" - Checking this box allows donors to make their own fundraising pages based off yours. P2P pags help you collect donations for your causes and allocate the funds to your Stripe account automatically, no additional work required.
"Allow donors to dedicate their donations" - Checking this box allows a donor to say whether their donation is made ‘In Honor of’ or ‘In Memory of’ someone. When choosing this option the donor is sent an additional email alongside their receipt email to confirm their dedication. Any names written will show up in your donation reports in their own dedicated column.
"Show QR codes on Live Display pages" - this option controls whether this fundraising page's Live Display page will show a QR code for donors to scan with their phones to donate. You can read more about the Live Display feature towards the end of this article.
Public Point of Contact Email
The "Public Point of Contact Email" is an important field to fill out. Leaving this blank will mean that donors will not know who to contact if they have questions about the donations they're making, Event tickets they're buying, etc.
Nonprofit admins should put the email address that donors should contact with any questions in this field. Once you do, the email will be displayed in the footer of your pages for donors to see. Hit "Save" when you're done or none of your changes will be kept.
Campaign Page Basic Information
Campaign Pages have more settings to work with, however these settings are specific to just the page. The "Campaign Name, Description, and Goal" tab serves the same purpose as the "Basic Information" tab does on the Core Profile.
Each Campaign Page you make has the following editable fields:
"Campaign Name" - This is the internal name of your Campaign Page. The name you write here is just for your own records. If you ever download data reports through your Stripe account the name you write here will appear alongside any donation made to this Campaign Page.
Important: This field will be locked from any changes as soon as the campaign page receives its first donation.
"Display campaign page title as" - This is the public facing name of the campaign. What you write here will be seen by all donors as the name of your Campaign Page.
Important: This field will also change the URL of your Campaign Page until it receives its first donation. Once a donation has been received editing this field will no longer change the URL. But it will still change the Campaign page's title.
"Page Description" - Text used to explain to donors what specific cause the Campaign page will be fundraising for. This text will appear under the Primary Media image.
"Set the Default Frequency" - Same as on the Core Profile. This changes the pre-highlighted option on the page between the "One-Time" and "Monthly" donation options. This change is also reflected on any donation widgets that use the Campaign page.
"Campaign goal amount" - Writing a number in this field enables a goal bar on the page that donors will see. Every donation to the page will automatically increase the goal bar. Writing the number "0" in this field hides the goal bar entirely.
The goal bar will also display donations that go over the goal, as well.
"Amount raised from other sources" - This field is for publicly displaying any offline donation you have received for this campaign, meaning donations given to the campaign outside of the Give Lively page. Examples of such donations are ones you have received by check or in person. Any number you write in here will automatically be added to the goal bar, if it is enabled.
Important: This field is not intended for personal use of tracking outside donations because it does not keep a history of past written amounts. It will only display the currently written number.
"Include offline p2p fundraiser donations and donors towards this campaign's goal and donor count" - if your campaign page allows donors to make Peer-To-Peer (P2P) fundraising pages, those P2P pages can also have their own "Amount raised from other sources" fields for offline donations. This checkbox controls whether those amounts will count towards the campaign's goal bar. Leaving this checkbox empty makes it so that those P2P offline amounts do not count.
"Number of offline donors" - The amount of donors shown by the goal bar will increase by the number written in this field.
This won't affect the donation amount in the goal bar, only the number of donors.
"Fundraiser goal suggestion" - this field provides P2P fundraisers with a suggested amount for their goal bar when setting up their P2P pages.
"Show recent donors on campaign page" - This box enables a window below your page's description that will show the name of every donor that has donated to this page, along with the amount they donated. Any donors who have marked their donations as anonymous will have their names hidden, but the donation amounts will still be shown.
This field can only show the most recent 10 donors, organized with the most recent donation shown at the top. When a new donation is made the oldest donation is removed from the list.
"Show recent donors on live page" - this checkbox controls whether recent donors will be shown on your campaign's Live Display page or not.
"Allow donors to make donation private" - this controls whether your donors can make anonymous donations or not.
Only their names will be anonymized from the public page. The amount they donated cannot be anonymized.
"Show Peer-To-Peer Leaderboard" - if P2P pages are enabled, the leaderboard will display all P2P fundraising pages created for the campaign page and rank them in a list from highest earned to least earned. This checkbox controls whether that leaderboard is shown or not.
"Enable Peer-To-Peer Fundraising" - this checkbox controls whether donors can make their own fundraising pages to support your campaign's cause. Any donations their pages earn will automatically be sent to your nonprofit's Stripe account as though it were your own campaign page, so no coordination of funds with the donor running the page is necessary.
You can enable and disable this feature at will. Disabling this feature will not automatically delete any P2P pages that have already been created, it will only prevent the creation of new ones.
"Enable Team Fundraising" - clicking this checkbox allows P2P fundraisers to join up with other ones in teams, with one P2P page serving as the Leader of the team. Similar to the "Enable Peer-To-Peer Fundraising" checkbox, it can be clicked on and off at will and disabling the feature will not automatically delete any Team pages that have already been created.
"Allow donors to dedicate their donations" - Same as the Core Profile. Checking this checkbox allows a donor to say whether their donation is made ‘In Honor of’ or ‘In Memory of’ someone. When choosing this option the donor is sent an additional email confirming their dedication. Any names written will show up in your nonprofit reports in their own dedicated column.
"Show QR codes on Live Display pages" - Same as the Core Profile. This option controls whether this fundraising page's Live Display page will show a QR code for donors to scan with their phones to donate.
Close a Campaign Page
All Campaign Pages can be closed from receiving further donations. The button to do so is located at the bottom of the Basic Information page and is colored in red as this action is not reversible. When the page is closed:
Your Campaign Page will still be live on the internet, but your page will display a message that states “This campaign has ended. Thank you for your support.” with a “Donate” button that redirects donors to your Core Profile page.
Closing this campaign will also close all Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Pages your supporters have created associated to this campaign, using the same messaging as above.
Event Pages that are linked to a closed Campaign Page will also be closed.
Closing the campaign will NOT stop or cancel any recurring donations that have been going through the Campaign Page. Those recurring donations will continue to happen through your Core Profile going forward.
Reminder: Donors can cancel their recurring donations through the donor portal at any time.
All closed Campaign pages can be seen in their own specific "Closed" tab located in the "Campaign Pages" menu.
Logos and Images
This page controls four parts of your Campaign Page and Core Profile settings.
Logo
In order to display properly, your logo image should be in JPG format and:
A minimum of 640x640 pixels
No larger than 1MB
The image you upload for the logo in your Core Profile page will show up on all of your Give Lively pages that display a logo. In addition to that, every Campaign and Event Page has their own Logo section that allows you to upload a different image just for those pages. The Core Profile Logo image is the only one that is set as the default for all pages.
Primary Media
The Primary Media setting is for placing an image or video on your fundraising page. It will be shown above the Mission Statement on your page. You have four options to choose from on what gets displayed.
Default Image
Image
Video
No Media
Default Image
Selecting "Default Image" will automatically use the image you have uploaded into your Core Profile for the Primary Media slot on your Campaign Page. This means no additional uploading is required.
Image
Selecting "Image" lets you upload an image to display on the Campaign Page you're working on. In order to display properly, the Primary Media image should be in JPG format and be:
2000 x 1200 pixels OR
A 5:3 aspect ratio
The image will not display on mobile devices to help keep your Campaign Page easy to scroll through and read for donors on smaller screens.
Video
You can embed a video on your Campaign Page instead of using an image. Clicking on the video option and the following "Edit" button will show a popup window asking for a link to a video on Vimeo or YouTube. Pasting in a valid link will automatically embed that video onto the page after you click "Save."
Things to keep in mind:
Paste the full URL (with the “https://“) into the bar
Do not use an Embed code link.
The video must be set for public viewing by the original video uploader. Any private, unpublished, or hidden videos cannot be embedded even with a link.
No Media
Selecting this option will make it so that no media is displayed above the Campaign Page's description text.
Secondary Video Section
In addition to the Primary Media setting you can also embed a secondary video onto the page. The secondary video will appear above the Campaign Page's description, but below the social media buttons.
This option works just like the Primary Media Video option and includes the same limitations.
Paste the full URL (with the “https://“) into the bar
Do not use an Embed code link.
The video must be set for public viewing by the original video uploader. Any private, unpublished, or hidden videos cannot be embedded even with a link.
Brand Color
The Brand Color field takes the hexadecimal color value you paste into it and applies it to the "Donate" button on your fundraising page. It will also act as the color used when a donor is highlighting different donation options.
Colors that our system detects as too bright will be automatically darkened to a different hexadecimal value to meet the readability standards for our pages.
Image For Social Media Sharing
This image will only appear when sharing the fundraising page link on certain social media websites. Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media platform that provides an embedded preview image for links will use what you upload here for its preview.
In order to display properly, the Social Media Sharing image should be in JPG format and:
Minimum of 1200x630 pixels
No larger than 1MB
Donation Amounts & Impact Stories
The "Donation Amounts and Impact Stories" section of your Core Profile and Campaign Pages allows you to set a custom donation amount for One-Time and Monthly frequencies. A text field is also provided if you want to describe the impact a donation at that tier will have.
Every Campaign Page automatically starts with default donation amounts of $25, $50, $100 and $250. These amounts can be edited, deleted, and more can also be added. You can edit any suggested donation amount by clicking on the pen icon, delete any suggested amount using the trash icon found next to the pen, or create a new suggested amount by clicking on the “+Create New” button at the top right.
The Custom Donation option lets donors donate whatever amount they would prefer, without having to choose one of the suggested amounts. The Custom Donation option can be hidden from the page by clicking on the eye icon. However, please note that your page must display at least one other donation option in order to keep the Custom Donation option hidden. If you delete all your Impact Stories you won’t be able to hide the Custom Donation option.
Whether editing a suggested amount or creating a new one, you can upload an image to appear alongside the suggested donation amount. The ideal image can be in JPG or PNG format and the recommended size is 1200x780px. Any image smaller than 600x390px might not display properly.
The second half of your editing options lets you enter a suggested donation amount and frequency. One-Time and Monthly frequencies can have different suggested amounts and impact stories from each other. The recommended length for an impact story is 75 characters.
Click the "Save" button when you're done making your edits to ensure the changes aren't erased if you navigate away from the window.
You can click on the “Sorting & Frequencies” option next to the “Create New” button to have further control over what donation options are shown to donors when they land on your page. You can turn off one particular frequency if you find it unnecessary for your Campaign, and also have the displayed amounts appear in different orders.
Donor Information
This section lets nonprofit admins ask donors three additional questions before they make their donation. You can ask donors for their mailing address, phone number, and organization name.
Enabling an option opens up two more fields that allow you to make the question required, so a donor cannot make a donation without providing an answer, and display help text to the donor so they can be informed why they're being asked to provide that information.
Custom Questions
Nonprofits can collect information from donors that Give Lively reports do not provide by default! You can make these questions in the Custom Questions Library, accessed from the menu through "Custom Questions." You can also make questions within a specific Campaign Page, too!
Custom Questions Library
The Custom Questions Library hosts templates of your questions. You can add questions from the Library to any number of Campaign Pages you create.
You can create questions through the Custom Questions Library or directly through a campaign, the process is the same. In both cases, the new question you make will automatically be saved to the Custom Questions Library.
Custom Questions can also be edited at any time. Edits made to questions that are already being asked on Campaign and P2P pages will update live automatically.
Types of Questions
You can set your custom question to be answered in one of three ways:
Short text – for short written answers (maximum of 250 characters)
Long text – for longer written answers (maximum of 5,000 characters)
Checkboxes – allows donors to choose as many answers from a pre-written list as they want
Dropdown - provides the donor with a list of possible answers like Checkboxes, but limits them to just one choice.
You can make up to 5 pre-checkout and 5 post-checkout questions. Any questions marked as "required" will stop the donor from checking out until they've been answered. Unanswered required questions will be highlighted in red with help text explaining that the question is required.
Post-checkout questions cannot be set to "required." They appear in an “Additional Information” section on the thank-you page after a donation has been processed.
Remove a Custom Question
You can remove any custom question from a campaign with the the “Remove” button. You will still need to click the Save button for the change to take effect.
There are some important things to know when removing a custom question from a campaign:
Removing a question from a Campaign Page does not remove it from the Custom Questions Library.
The opposite is also true. Removing a custom question from the Library does not remove it from any active Campaign Pages that are asking the question.
Removing a question that has been edited inside a Campaign Page (meaning not in the Custom Questions Library) removes only the edited version in the Campaign Page. The original, unedited question will remain in the Library.
This is because edits to questions within a Campaign Page do not impact the question in the Custom Questions Library.
Removing a question permanently removes any donor responses to it from your reports. They will not appear in the Custom Question Responses report.
Custom Questions in Peer-To-Peer Fundraisers
Any P2P page associated with your campaign will inherit the custom questions you have set for that campaign page. This also means that any changes you make to your custom questions will automatically update and change questions on the associated P2P pages, too.
Custom Question Responses
The Custom Question Responses report is where the answers to all your Custom Questions are found. You can navigate to it by clicking on "Data Reports" and then "Custom Question Responses".
The default date range for the report is the last three months. You can change the date range in the "From"/"To" calendar fields and then click “Apply”. The search bar allows you to find specific charges in the report with filters that can be accessed from the dropdown menu next to the "Search" button. The available filters are:
Donor Name
Donor Email
Page Type
Page Slug
Page Name
Question ID
Question Title
Answer
Salesforce Opportunity.
The “Export CSV” button will send you an email with a link to download the report. The downloaded CSV report will use the same filters you used, if downloading a more limited report is something you'd like to do. The downloaded CSV will include the following data columns:
Order ID
Donor Name
Donor Email
Donation Amount
Donation Date
Page Slug
Page Type
Page Name
Question ID
Question Title
Answer
SF Opportunity ID
Important: The answers to Donor Information questions (mailing address, phone number, organization name) are recorded in the Line Items (All) report, not the Custom Question Responses report.
Thank You Message
When a donor gives to your organization, a receipt is immediately sent to the donor that:
Displays a "Thank You" message
Provides a summary of the donation for tax reporting purposes
Provides a link to the User Portal through which donors can view their donation history and receipts, manage recurring donations, and more
The 'Thank You’ message, if one is written, appears at the top of the receipt.
Writing a message is optional. Receipts are always automatically emailed to donors once their donations have been processed, regardless of whether a "Thank You" message has been written or not.
The following merge tags can be used when writing your custom "Thank You" message:
*|FNAME|* (this is the donor's first name)
*|LNAME|* (this is the donor's first name)
*|DONATION_AMOUNT|* (this is how much was donated)
*|DONATION_DATE|* (this is the date of the donation)
*|DONATION_TIME|* (this is the time of the donation)
An example of an automated thank-you email sent using merge tags in the subject line is:
*|FNAME|*, thank you for your *|DONATION_AMOUNT|* gift!
It will appear as:
Alex, thank you for your $50 gift!
Reply-to Email for All Donation Receipts
This field is where you should put in the email address that donors should send their questions to. Any donor that responds to a receipt they're sent will get their email sent to the one in the "reply-to" email field.
Recurring Thank You Message
Give Lively only sends one receipt email by default, even to donors that have chosen to give on a recurring basis. Only enable this option if you would like those donors to receive a receipt email for every automatic charge they will receive each month.
Once this option is enabled you can then add a custom message to the receipt that just those recurring donors will receive.
Live Display
A feature available for all fundraising pages, the Live Display is a webpage made for displaying on projectors or large screens at an in-person event. The Live Display shows a Text-To-Donate code if one is assigned to the Campaign Page, and a QR code that people can scan with their phone cameras to automatically open the Give Lively Campaign Page on their phones.
You can enable or disable showing donor names in the Campaign Page's Basic Information section, also known as the “Campaign Name, Description & Goal” tab. On this page the "Show recent donors on live page" checkbox controls whether donor names are shown or not.
