This article walks you through how to use your Glede cards with Google Wallet and provides help with common issues.
How to add your Glede card to Google Wallet and get it ready for use:
Video summarized in text:
Open the Glede app
Activate your Glede card if you haven’t already
Tap the “Add to Google Wallet” button
Select “Add to Wallet”
Tap “Continue”
Scroll through the terms and accept them
Tap “View in Wallet”
Confirm it’s you using your phone’s PIN code
Make sure the card is set as the default and that you see “Hold device near reader” and the blue Wi-Fi–like icon before attempting to tap your phone on the terminal
This is how it should look in Google Wallet when the card is ready to tap on a terminal:
Payment on the terminal does not work:
Make sure you have followed the steps above and that the card is ready for use as shown in the image (the blue Wi-Fi–like icon appears under the card and you see “Hold device near reader”)
Try tapping without a phone case so the NFC chip can be detected more easily by the terminal
If it still doesn’t work, try the following:
Remove the card from Google Wallet
Video summarized in text:
Tap the card in question
Tap the three dots in the top right corner
Scroll down and tap “Remove payment method”
Then restart your phone and add the card again as described earlier in the article.
Still not working?
Make sure the Glede gift card is set as the default card in Google Wallet
Hold the back of the phone close to the terminal — try adjusting the position if nothing happens
Check that battery saver mode is not enabled, as this can disable NFC
If your purchase is declined due to insufficient funds, but you believe you have enough money on the card, this is usually because you are tapping with the wrong card. Make sure to select the correct card in Google Wallet before tapping. This video shows how to choose a card in Google Wallet. Check that the last four digits of the card you selected match the last four digits of the card that you can see has sufficient funds in the Glede app.
If you’ve tried everything and it still doesn’t work, the following options are available:
Try the card on another device, for example a partner’s or a friend’s phone
You can receive an alternative brand-specific gift card that can be used via a QR code, more like a traditional gift card
If these options are not of interest, the last option is to refund the gift card back to the sender, and you will need to arrange with the sender to send a new gift that you can use
Hope this helped!
Have a great day!
