At GoJoe, we offer multiple challenge formats to make participation fair and fun — whether you're part of a large corporate team or a smaller group of friends. All challenge types use our activity points system, which rewards over 60 types of movement, ensuring a level playing field no matter how people choose to get active.
Here’s how the different challenge formats work:
1. Most Points Challenge
In this format, each participant earns points individually based on their logged activities. The team or individual with the highest total points wins (see below how points are calculated).
Best for: Teams of similar sizes
Every movement earns points, and those points are added to the team total
Most common challenge format on GoJoe
2. Average Points Challenge
This format calculates the average number of points per participant on each team. It’s a great way to ensure fairness when teams are of different sizes. Whichever team gets the highest average points per participant, wins.
For example:
Team A (2 people, 100 total points) → 50 average points per person
Team B (10 people, 400 total points) → 40 average points per person → Team A leads the leaderboard.
Best for: Different team sizes
Solo leaderboard still ranks individuals by total points
3. Most Kilometres Challenge
This format is purely about distance. All activities are counted based on kilometres logged — the team or individual with the highest total distance wins.
Only applies to distance-based activity types (e.g. walking, running, cycling, swimming, etc.)
Time-based activities and daily steps are not included
Best for: Simpler or more traditional distance-focused competitions
GoJoe’s Points System: How Movement is Counted
