In an 'average points' challenge participants exercise on their own but are not alone. Their solo workouts count for the team via the GoJoe app. Each activity generates points - weighted by activity type to level the playing field. The weightings are displayed here.

The 'average points' challenge format, however, is different to the 'most points' challenge format. In an 'average points' whichever team gets the highest average points per participant, wins.

For example:-

- Team A have two people and a collective total of 100 points. Their average team points total is therefore 50 (100/2); and
- Team B have ten people and a collective total of 400 points. Their average team points total will be 40 (400/10).

So, in the above example, even though Team B have more points, Team A will be above Team B in the leaderboard because they have a higher average points per team particpant.

The solo standings will still show all of the participants across all of the teams in the challenge and will be sorted as most points.

The average points challenge format is ideal where you have significantly different team sizes.
