In this article, we will discuss how you can create and edit product detail custom fields. For details on creating custom forms (what product details or attributes are applied to a product category) for your special order and stock orders, Click Here.
Creating Custom "Product" Fields:
Product detail fields (e.g., size, loft, color, etc.) are used to populate the custom form. Before customizing your custom forms, we suggest that you first create the custom product detail fields that will be used to compile the custom forms. These fields can be applied to any of your custom forms.
To create product custom fields, follow these instructions:
Go to Orders > Merchandise Setting > Custom Fields.
Click "New Custom Field."
Name the custom field. Note: Any custom fields with the word "size" in the name will not be displayed in the attributes column of a stock order. If you need a size field for a stock order, create a Stock Order Sizing Table.
Select (if applicable) the associated member profile field that will be linked to this custom field. For instance, if shirt sizes are contained in your member's profiles, you can link that field with a "shirt size" custom field. When doing so, say you place a golf shirt special order for Jimmy Smith, and he has a shirt size of "L," his shirt sizes will automatically populate in the special order form once a member is selected because the members custom field is linked to the product details custom field. Keep in mind that you can change the auto-filled value when creating an order (if necessary).
If the custom field must be answered in order to complete the form, mark it as "Required."
Set the Default Values. You will have two options:
Free Text: When creating a special order or stock order, you will enter the field value manually.
Dropdown: You can provide predetermined values for the field. When creating a special order or stock order, you can select from the dropdown or enter a custom value.
Click "Save" (as shown below).
The custom field will then be created and can be added to custom forms of one or more product categories.
Editing Custom Fields:
At any time, you can return to Orders > Merchandise Setting > Custom Fields to view and edit your current custom fields (as shown below).
