Protected Pages enable you to control which customers see specific content or products on your Shopify website. This opens up all sorts of opportunities to create exclusive offers, time-sensitive product releases, or member-only content.
How to set up Protected Pages:
Go to Tag Library > Create a new tag > Protected Pages
Add the URLs to the pages you want to protect, and choose who can see these pages.
You can also choose to make pages password protected - check the box if you want the pages password-protected.
If you do want the pages to be password-protected, a splash screen will appear when your chosen customers reach the page. Fill in the fields for the splash screen.
Finally, you can set the live date of this protected page. The scheduled date will trigger the locking of the pages, it will not publish the pages for you.
So if you are looking to create new pages, you can either schedule them inside Shopify to appear at a certain time, or just set the start date to whenever you create these pages. This will ensure that no one can access these pages as soon as they are published.
For the end date, this is designed to then make the pages visible after this date.
As an examples, if you want content to be available to VIP customers first, you can use this feature. After the exclusive time, then non-VIP customers will be able to access.
If you only want VIP customers to access - and never unlock for other segments, then don't set an end date.
Hide and Show After Scheduled
If you have set the end date of the scheduled pages, then you can further choose to hide or show the pages.
This means that you are able to have a page published, and then be able to hide without having to draft it yourself.
Campaign Ideas
Create urgency β make a product page available for a small window of time.
Foster loyalty β make certain content or products available to account holders, or specific tiered customers only.
