Promotion Cart Notice

If you're running a promotion using Roadmap, you likely have a defined start and end date. However, Shopify cart sessions can persist beyond the end of a promotion. This means a customer might still have discounted or promotional items in their cart even after the promotion has ended.

To ensure a smooth user experience, it's important to notify customers when the promotion is no longer active. This avoids confusion—for example, if they were expecting a discount or a free item that is no longer available, they’ll be informed before checkout.

Customizing the Message Displayed to Customers

You can configure a message that appears to users when they return to their cart and the promotion has ended. This message is shown by the Roadmap app and helps manage customer expectations clearly.

To update this message:

  1. Go to the Customiser in your Shopify admin.

  2. Click on the Apps tab.

  3. Select Roadmap.

  4. Locate the field titled DWP Updated.

  5. Enter your preferred message here.

This allows you to tailor the message to match your brand voice and inform customers appropriately when a promotional offer is no longer valid.

Logged in / Logged out users.

This logic can also apply to customers who are logged in vs logged out. This is because Roadmap allows you to segment promotions based on a range of customer parameters such as order history tags logged in or locked out etc.
