Shopify does not have a staging ecosystem, therefore when it comes to testing your campaigns, we recommended using a mixture of test products, as well as test tags.
This approach will ensure that only you, or those you want will be able to access the campaign for test mode.
Customer Tags
In order to ensure that only you those you wish to see a test campaign and access it, we remember using a tag in Roadmap such as "tester".
Setting this tag against your own customer profile, and those you want to be able to test will ensure that (1) you have to be logged in, and (2) only those with the tag can see it.
Segment the promotion
Lastly, you will need to select the "logged in customers tagged with", and then add the tag "tester" to your promotion.
Even if this isn't how you want to activate the promotion once live, this is how you can test behind the scenes β a lot eaiser than trying to set up and maintain different versions of your store for testing.
