A Logic Variable is a calculated Custom Variable formula which applies simple arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) equations at the MCF & Battery Equipment, Water Meter, Well and Gas Meter level. 🧮
Said differently, when solving for the value of C:
C is the calculated Logic Variable, and
A and B are Custom Variable inputs
C = A + B
To create a Logic Variable formula, first create the Custom Variables for each data point you want to use in the calculation (i.e. A and B and C).

Say we've got a buy back meter, from which we're buying gas from the pipeline to run some equipment we have on site. In this particular case, to provide a true measurement (ie 'Net Production') of the lease productivity we need to be able to calculate between Buy Gas and Sales Gas.
Net Production = Sales Gas - Buy Gas
First step, create the Custom Variables at the Battery from the Settings page for Sales Gas, Buy Gas, and Net Production.
Pro-tip: Don't forget to create a Custom Variable field to house the calculation in, otherwise all you'll have is input fields.
Next, click add Logic Variable to design the formula which will provide a calculated value for Net Production AND assign the level you want to apply the formula.
And that's it! ✔
Now all you need are hard numbers entered for Buy Gas and Sales Gas at the MCF & Battery Equipment level, and your Logic Variable of Net Production will automatically calculate! 🎩🐇
