Hello there!
This page aims at describing the changes in the scoring system between V1 (used from 2020 to May 2024) to V2 (used onwards).
If your are new to the scoring system, and want to learn more about its general objectives and main features, please visit the below article.
General Principles
The goal of this revamp was to make sure the score is more relevant to your company's actual actions and better rewards an active company.
It has thus been the objective to attach the score to measurable outcomes of your company's action.
The score can now be automatically granted based on the completion (and review by Greenly Experts) of tasks sent out to your company based on its vertical and package.
Where possible, it was arbitrated to remain as close as possible to the V1 to allow multiyear comparison.
The scoring categories remain untouched. The grading of your company spans six different sections:
Section | # of points | Description |
GHG Assessment | 37 | Evaluates the precision of the carbon footprint evaluation of the company |
Transparency | 3 | Scores the transparency of the company regarding its footprint on social networks and public databases |
Reduction | 36 | Encompasses the progression of the general reduction strategy and the involvement of the company's supply chain |
Climate Objective | 4 | Assesses the goals set by the company in terms of reduction trajectory |
Contribution | 10 | Rewards the company for its contribution to climate-positive projects |
Sensibilisation | 10 | Represents the efforts of the company in raising awareness among its workforce |
Granular differences
A few differences are noted inside the categories:
In the tables below:
- Rows in red
have been deleted in version 2 (V2)
- Rows in green
have been added in V2
- Grey
lines remained from version 1 (V1) to V2
GHG Assessment
No changes between V1 and V2.
Transparency
In V1, 1.5 point were granted for publishing the company's carbon footprint on a website of any regulatory agency and 1.5 point for a public disclosure of the emissions.
In order to make it more measurable, the exact outcome has been specified:
- Publish your carbon report on a regulatory Agency (1pt)
- Share a short form version of the carbon footprint of the company publicly (1pt)
- Share the involvement of the individual Project Manager in the carbon footprint evaluation (1pt)
Action | Score V1 | Score V2 |
Disclose your GHG emissions | 1.5 pts | 0 pt |
Publish your carbon report on a regulatory Agency | 1.5 pts | 1 pt |
Share your GHG emission certificate on social media | 0 pt | 1 pt |
Share your personal certificate on social media | 0 pt | 1 pt |
Reduction
No changes between V1 and V2 on the points related to Action Plan.
Supplier engagement is now split into more granular actions, based on the company's tasks.
Action | Score V1 | Score V2 |
Progress in your action plan (based on a Climate Expert evaluation) | 24 pts | 24 pts |
Engage your supplier (% of all supplier engaged) | 12 pts | 0, but see next line |
Engage your first supplier | 0 pt (see above) | 4 pts |
Engage the first third of your suppliers | 0 pt (see above) | 4 pts |
Engage the second third of your suppliers | 0 pt (see above) | 4 pts |
Climate Objective
The structure of the 4 points has been simplified from a complicated formula involving the start year, the reduction %, and if your company has included scope 3 to a simple system.
Now, your company earns 4 points after publicly sharing a goal aligned with 1.5°C - 2°C trajectories.
Contribution
No changes between V1 and V2.
Raise awareness among employees
The focus for sensibilisation has been shifted to training as many employees as possible on climate change-related topics, once again based on the associated tasks.
Action | Score V1 | Score V2 |
Communicate internally on the process | 2 pts | 0 pt |
Communicate internally on the results | 2 pts | 0 pt |
Host a Climate Fresk | 2 pt | 0 pt |
Activate the employee trainings | 4 pt | 0 pt (see next line) |
Have 10% of employees complete at least a training | 0 pt | 3 pts |
Have 40% of employees complete at least a training | 0 pt | 3 pts |
Have 100% of employees complete at least a training | 0 pt | 4 pts |
FAQ
When are the points awarded?
When are the points awarded?
The first medal is awarded at end of carbon footprint computation, or once your Greenly Experts end the quality check when your package includes that option.
After this first step, points associated to tasks will be automatically added to your total score whenever you complete a task.
These could be potentially reevaluated based on a Greenly Expert audit of your actions.
Are all the items automated?
Are all the items automated?
All the points related to the precision of your report are given at report finalization.
All the points related to the "post-report" phase are given automatically, except the ones associated with the evaluation of your reduction strategy (evaluation by a Climate Expert)
