Tag Splitting on Memberships

Groovio now allows you to specify how many classes from a membership can be allocated to specific tags. Previously, you could set an overall allocation (e.g., 2 classes per payment cycle) and list all the tags those classes could be used for, leaving the choice to the student. While this configuration is still available, you can now assign specific allocations for each tag.

For example, if you want one class to be used for “Aerial” and another for “Dance,” you can set this up directly in the membership configuration. This feature provides studios with greater control and customization options. For instance, you can restrict members to choosing one class from a shared tag (e.g., either a Pole or Aerial class) during the same time period, while also allowing them to book an additional class under another tag, such as Floor.

To set up tag splits for memberships:

  1. Navigate to Manage Studio > Memberships.

  2. Create a membership.

  3. Specify the number of classes allocated to each tag.

  4. Utilize combined tags to apply rules for shared access (e.g., a combined tag for Pole and Aerial) and clearly define restrictions such as limiting members to a set number of bookings within these shared tags.

If you want to use this feature for current members, the easiest way is to duplicate the existing membership, make the changes, and then upgrade members to the new version. For troubleshooting setup issues, double-check that tag splitting rules are applied correctly, ensure tags are named clearly (e.g., 'Pole/Aerial Shared Access'), and regularly review the configuration to catch any unintended errors.
