Customising your guest survey

This article explains how to configure your property’s post-stay and during-stay surveys.

This article explains how to configure your property’s post-stay and during-stay surveys.


Add a new question to your survey

  1. Go to Feedback > Survey.

  2. In the Post-stay feedback tab or During-stay feedback tab, click on the Add button.

  3. To choose a preset question type, click on Select from the template gallery, or if you would prefer to create a custom question, select Blank question followed by a question type: Rating scales, Multiple options (drop-down), Multiple options (radio), Multiple options (checkbox), Short text, or Long text.

  4. Enter your question in the Question text field (or edit the template question, if needed) and complete any other relevant fields related to the question type you are adding.

  5. Enter the custom translations of your question into each of the active language tabs.

  6. When ready, click on the Save changes button — this will return you to your survey, where you can then reorder the question, if required.

➕ For example:

To create a blank question using the Multiple options (drop-down) type, follow these steps:

  1. In Feedback > Survey, click on the Add button and select Blank question from the side menu, followed by Multiple options (drop-down).

  2. Enter your question text into the Question text field for your default language, then enter custom translations for your question text into each of the active language tabs.

  3. Under Answer options, click on Add choice — these will be the answer options the guest will choose from in the drop-down box.

  4. Click on the Save changes button — this will take you back to your survey, where you can then reorder the question, if required.

⚠️ Note:

  • If you do not enter custom translations for an active language, any guest using that language will see the question in your default language.

  • Your default language is defined in Settings > General > Localisation > Default language.

Rearrange the questions on your survey

Drag and drop the questions to rearrange their order.

Delete a question on your survey

To delete a question, click on the question's Edit button, followed by the Delete button (at the bottom of the page).

Add a Survey greeting text and Survey completion text

When a guest receives your feedback survey email and clicks on the call to action, they will be taken to the feedback welcome screen, which includes your Survey greeting text.

To add your Survey greeting text, go to Feedback > Settings and enter your message into the Survey greeting text box — and also add your translations into each active language tab, if necessary.

Depending on your Feedback settings, once the guest rates their stay out of 5 stars and clicks on Next, they will either be taken directly to the Tripadvisor review page, or to your survey followed by the Tripadvisor review page.(Learn more: Feedback settings)

Then after the guest submits their review(s), they will be sent to the feedback confirmation screen, which includes your Survey completion text.

To customise your Survey completion text, go to Feedback > Settings, then enter your message into the Survey completion text box — and if necessary, add your translations into each active language tab.

Add your property's logo to your survey

To add your property’s logo to the survey greeting and completion screens, go to Settings > General, scroll down to Appearance, then under Logo, select the image you want to upload.

💡 When uploading your logo, follow the recommended guidelines displayed on your screen.

Test your surveys

Once you have completed the steps above, test the during-stay and/or post-stay surveys and preview what they look like from the perspective of a guest.

  1. Go to Guests > Add guests.

  2. Fill in all reservation detail fields with your own details, then click on the Add guest button (or select an existing guest).

  3. The Guest profile will appear. On this page, click the ellipsis (...) on the top right of the guest details panel — this is where you can view the following from the perspective of a potential guest:

    • Post-stay feedback

    • During-stay feedback
