Turn a contact into a user (credentialed access)
Every person in Contact Manager is either a credentialed user or a non-credentialed contact. The difference decides how they interact with the whole platform:
Credentialed users can sign in to H2CommandCentre at any time and act within their assigned permissions, such as sending a notification or mobilizing a VEOC event.
Non-credentialed contacts never sign in. They receive notifications by email, SMS, or phone via their contact lists.
VEOC: joins sessions through an invite link when prompted.
H2Notify: receives relevant notifications via contact lists and can respond if required.
Most people in your database should be contacts. Credential the people who run responses, not everyone who receives them.
Make a contact a credentialed user
Find the contact and click the blue edit icon, or start from Add a contact.
Check the Credentialed User box.
Click Save.
Two things to know before you save:
Credentials only grant sign-in. The user can do nothing until a system administrator assigns roles and permissions.
Saving locks the email to the record. To change a credentialed user's email later, you must delete the user and recreate them. Details in Edit a contact.
In a CSV import, the IsUser field does the same job: TRUE for credentialed, FALSE for a contact.
Track the invitation
New credentialed users receive an electronic invitation. The Invitation Setup Status column in the Contacts section shows where each one stands:
Accepted: the user accepted the invitation and can sign in.
Waiting on the user: the invitation has not been accepted yet.
If someone is stuck on Waiting on the user, click the Resend Invitation icon on their record to send it again.
