The Symptom

You may ever opened Habitify in the morning, only to see yesterday's list of habits and checkmarks, even though the date at the top of the screen correctly shows it's a new day.

Don't worry, your progress and data are safe! This is a known issue that can sometimes occur, and it has a very simple fix.

Why This Happens

This issue is typically caused by a temporary data syncing problem when the Habitify app is resumed after running in the background for a long time (for example, overnight). The app's main view sometimes fails to perform a full refresh to the new day's data, leaving the previous day's information displayed on the screen.

The Quickest Fix: Force Close and Reopen the App

The most effective way to solve this is to force the app to restart and perform a fresh sync.

Here are the steps:

  1. Open your "Recent Apps" screen.

    • On most Android devices, you can do this by swiping up from the bottom of your screen and holding for a moment.

    • On older devices, you may need to tap a dedicated square button ( multitasking button).

  2. Find the Habitify App.

    • You will see a preview of all your currently running apps.

  3. Fully Close Habitify.

    • Swipe the Habitify app preview away (usually up or to the side) to close it completely. This removes it from your phone's active memory.

  4. Reopen the App.

    • Go back to your home screen or app drawer and tap the Habitify icon to open it again.

This action forces the app to reload all its data from our servers, and it should now display the correct habits for today.

Still Not Updating? Help Us Investigate

In very rare cases, the issue might persist even after a force restart. If this is happening to you, it could be a more complex bug, and your help would be invaluable for our team to diagnose it.

To help us understand what's happening on your specific device, could you please send us one of the following?

  • A Screenshot: Take a screenshot of the app's main screen that clearly shows today's date at the top and some screenshots of single progress view of the habit.

  • A Screen Recording (Even Better): A short video is incredibly helpful. Please record your screen showing you (1) force-closing the app, (2) reopening it, and (3) the app still showing the incorrect day's data.

  • Details of your environment: your device name and OS version, the Habitify version that you are using.

You can send the screenshot or video to our support team via email at contact@habitify.me. This visual proof is the best way for our developers to identify and solve the problem.
