If Habitify is showing two entries for the same activity (e.g. two sleep records for one night), or a habit isn't marking complete even though you can see the data in Google Health / Health Connect, this article covers both cases.
Case 1: Habitify shows duplicate entries (e.g. two sleep records)
Why this happens
Health Connect is a shared data layer — any number of apps on your phone can write into it. If two apps are both writing the same type of data (like Sleep), Health Connect stores them as separate records, even if they describe the same night.
This most commonly happens when both of the following are active on your Android device at once:
Google Fit
Your device's own built-in health/fitness tracking (varies by phone maker — this is often on by default)
Health Connect's own summary screen sometimes displays these as a single merged entry, which is why the duplicate may not be obvious when you check there. Habitify, however, reads the underlying records — so it picks up both.
How to fix it
Open Settings → Health Connect → App permissions on your Android device.
Look through the list of apps and find which ones have write access to the data type that's duplicating (e.g. Sleep).
If you see more than one app with write access to that same data type, turn off write access for one of them — if Google Fit is one of them, we recommend disabling it, since it's a legacy path many devices no longer need.
Give it a sync cycle, then check Habitify again. Existing duplicate entries from before the fix won't retroactively merge, but new entries going forward will be clean.
Case 2: A habit isn't marking complete even though the data exists in Health Connect
Why this happens
Health Connect permissions are granted per data type, not just per app. Connecting a source app (like Withings, which pushes to Google Health) doesn't automatically mean Habitify has been granted access to every data type from it. It's common for one data type (e.g. Steps) to be authorized while another (e.g. Weight) is not.
How to fix it
Open Settings → Health Connect → Habitify (under App permissions).
Check the list of data types Habitify has access to.
Confirm the specific data type your habit tracks (e.g. Weight, Sleep, Steps) is explicitly toggled on.
If it was off, turn it on and open Habitify again to trigger a fresh sync.
Still not working?
If you've confirmed permissions are correct and the issue persists, reach out to us in-app or at contact@habitify.me with:
The habit type affected
Which source app is providing the data (e.g. Withings, Samsung Health)
A screenshot of your Health Connect → App permissions screen for that app
This helps us pinpoint whether it's a permissions gap or something else.
