A well-structured day is key to building habits successfully. To help you with this, Habitify features a powerful organizational tool called Time of Day.

This feature is more than just a label; it's a dynamic filter for your daily habit list. It allows you to group your habits into specific time blocks—like "Morning" or "Deep Work"—so you can focus on only the habits that are relevant at that moment.

How It Works in Your Journal

In your main Journal view, you'll see an "Area Bar" at the top (right next to the "All Habits" tab). This bar is smart:

  • It automatically switches to the current time block based on the time ranges you've set. For example, at 10:00 AM, it will automatically select your "Morning" view.

  • It filters your list to show only the habits you have assigned to that specific time of day. This clears away the clutter and helps you focus on what's important right now.

How to Customize Your Times of Day

You have full control to edit the default time blocks or create new ones to perfectly match your personal schedule.

  1. Go to the Settings tab.

  2. Tap on Time of Day.

  3. You will see the default list: Morning, Afternoon, and Evening. You can tap on any of these to adjust their time range.

How to Add a New Time of Day Block:

  1. From the "Time of Day" settings screen, tap on "+ Add more..."

  2. Customize your block with a new name, icon, and color. For example, you could create "Commute," "Deep Work," or "Evening Wind Down."

  3. Set the Start Time and End Time for your new block.

How to Delete a Time of Day Block:

You can delete any time block you no longer need, including the default ones (Morning, Afternoon, Evening).

  1. On the "Time of Day" settings screen, find the block you want to remove.

  2. Swipe right on the block you wish to delete.

  3. A "Delete" button will appear. Tap it to remove the block.

However, the app requires you to have at least one Time of Day block at all times. The app will prevent you from deleting the last remaining block.

An Important Clarification: Time of Day, Log Timestamps, and the Daily Reset

It's crucial to understand the difference between the Time of Day feature, your Progress Log timestamps, and the app's Daily Reset for your goals.

  1. Time of Day Area (The Filter): The "Morning, Afternoon, Evening" settings are purely for filtering and organizing your list. Tapping "Morning" shows you habits you've tagged as "Morning." This setting does not change when your habits reset for the new day.

  2. The Daily Goal Reset (The New Day): Your habit list and goals will always refresh at 0:00 (midnight), based on your device's clock (or at the start of the new week/month/year for those goals). For example, even if you set your "Morning" block to start at 8:00 AM, your new list of habits for Tuesday will appear as soon as the clock strikes 0:00 on Tuesday morning, not at 8:00 AM.

  3. Progress Log Timestamps (The Factual Record): Separate from both of these, your Progress Logs (in your "Log History" and "Notes") will always record the real, exact date and time from your device's clock at the moment you check in. This ensures your history is a precise, factual record of when you performed an action.
