Smart Device Sync

Automatically track your clients' activity in Harbiz

Updated over a week ago

Take your client monitoring to the next level! Your users can now connect their favorite smart devices or health apps to Harbiz. As a professional, you'll automatically receive their metrics in the Evolution section - no more asking clients to send data manually.

What devices are supported?

Harbiz currently integrates with the major ecosystems:

Apple Health · Health Connect · Garmin · Fitbit · Xiaomi · Oura

💡 If your client's device isn't on the list (e.g. Suunto, Polar, or Huawei), they can still connect it by linking it first to their phone's Health app (iOS) or Health Connect (Android).

How does a client connect their device?

🔢 Steps to connect:

  1. Open the Harbiz app and go to Home.

  2. If no device is connected yet, they'll see the Activity section with a button to connect.

  3. Tap "Connect device" and select their device or app from the list.

  4. The app redirects them to the provider's authorization flow — they just need to accept the permissions and they're all set.

  5. The device will appear as Connected and metrics will start syncing automatically.

⌚️ Does your client have more than one device?

Clients can sync multiple data sources. Once the first one is connected, they just need to go to their Activity panel and repeat the process to add another.

⚠️ Important notes:

  • Privacy: Only the client can connect or disconnect their devices. As a professional, you have view-only access.

  • Data frequency: There may be minor discrepancies between the device and Harbiz due to each manufacturer's sync frequency.

Tracking metrics from the professional dashboard

Once your client has connected their device, you'll be able to see the following metrics in their Evolution section:

  • 👟 Steps: Total step count for the selected period.

  • 🔥 Calories burned: Total kcal burned for the selected period.

  • 🏃 Activity: Active time recorded by the device.

  • 😴 Sleep hours: Total sleep duration for the selected period.

  • ❤️ Heart rate: Maximum and average resting heart rate.

ℹ️ Navigate and analyze your metrics by adjusting the time range to whatever you need: week, month, or quarter.

  • On the web: Use the navigation arrows at the top of the panel.

  • On the app: Swipe across your screen to move quickly between dates.

Activity goals

You can set personalized goals for each client across steps, calories, sleep, and activity. The charts will show their progress against the target, making it easier to track performance and keep clients motivated.

💡 If you haven't set a goal, the platform's default values will apply.

How clients view their metrics in the app

Your client will see a quick summary of steps and calories right on their Home screen. To check the remaining metrics (sleep, activity, etc.), they'll need to go to their Activity panel.

ℹ️ Unlike the professional view, clients can filter by day, week, month, quarter, and year, and can swipe on their phone to switch between periods quickly.

How to disconnect a device

To stop syncing data, the client simply taps "Disconnect" in their Activity section.

ℹ️ For Apple Health and Health Connect: For these two services, the client needs to take one extra step in their system settings to fully revoke access:

  • On iOS: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > find the Harbiz app > Disable permissions.

FAQs

Can I connect my client's smart device from my professional dashboard?

No. Connecting and disconnecting smart devices is always done by the client themselves from their Harbiz app. From your dashboard you can view the data, but you don't have access to manage their connections.

What if my client's device isn't on the compatible list?

If the device isn't listed, the client can still connect it through their phone's health app (Apple Health or Health Connect), which acts as a bridge to Harbiz.

Is the data I see in my dashboard real-time?

Not exactly. There may be minor differences between what the client's device shows and what appears in your dashboard, as this depends on each app or device's sync frequency.

Where can I view my clients' synced activity?

You can find your clients' activity data in the Progress section of your Harbiz professional dashboard.

Can a client disconnect their smart device at any time?

Yes. Clients can disconnect their device whenever they want from the Activity section in their Harbiz app by tapping the disconnect option.

Will historical data from before the connection be available?

Yes. When a device or app is connected, the following historical data will be synced automatically:

  • Devices (Garmin, Fitbit, Oura, Xiaomi): The last 7 days of activity are imported.

  • Health apps (Apple Health, Health Connect): The last 29 days of activity are imported.

From that point on, syncing will continue automatically.
