Introduction
Recovering your tokens secured by Harpie Advanced Security is a process designed to safeguard against unsafe transactions. This guide will walk you through the recovery process step by step so you can retrieve your assets back from Harpie's security systems.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure that:
You have set a withdrawal address. If you haven't, please see the instructions on setting a withdrawal address.
You are signed up for Advanced Security and have protected tokens.
You have sufficient ETH in your wallet to cover all transaction fees.
Step-by-Step Recovery Process Example with USDC
Step 1: Verify Your Asset in the Vault
Access your Harpie Security Dashboard.
Navigate to the 'Advanced Security' tab.
Check for the USDC asset in the vault at the top of the page, which indicates it's ready for withdrawal.
Step 2: Click 'Recover' to start the process
You will see all of your assets in a visual chart like above.
If you decide not to recover your assets, they will remain safely there until you do.
Step 3: Connect to Harpie with Your Withdrawal Address
Open your wallet provider (e.g., MetaMask).
Click to switch your wallet.
Select your designated withdrawal address. How to step up a withdrawal address?
Once connected to your withdrawal address, a checkmark will appear and you will be able to continue. Press 'Continue.'
Step 4: Initiate the Recovery
Click on the 'Recover' button next to the USDC asset.
Confirm the transaction in your wallet provider.
Be aware that this action will require a network fee (gas).
Step 5: Finalize the Recovery
Monitor the transaction for completion.
Switch wallets back to your main wallet for that Harpie dashboard. You will see a red error message at the top of the screen warning that you are on the wrong dashboard. Go to your wallet provider to do this.
Once confirmed, your USDC will be transferred to your withdrawal wallet.
Common Questions & Troubleshooting
Why aren't my assets showing up immediately after recovery?
Network Congestion: Recovery time can be affected by the Ethereum network's congestion. During high traffic, transactions, including recoveries, may take longer to process.
Gas Fees: Ensure you've set an appropriate gas fee for a timely recovery. Lower gas fees can lead to slower transaction times.
What should I do if I encounter an error during the recovery process?
Double-check Connection: Ensure that your wallet is properly connected to Harpie.
Retry Transaction: If the network is busy, your transaction might fail. In this case, try the recovery process again with a higher gas fee.
Try manually recovering: We have a guide here on how to manually recover your assets using Etherscan.
How can I ensure a smooth recovery process?
Keep your wallet app updated to the latest version to avoid compatibility issues.
Have sufficient ETH in your wallet to cover all transaction fees.
Things to Keep in Mind
You must recover NFTs one by one, a single collection cannot be recovered all at once, however, we try to make it a smooth experience by queueing all NFT recoveries at once.
Network Speeds: Ethereum's network speed varies, so the time it takes for recovered assets to appear in your wallet may not be consistent.
Visibility of Assets: If the assets do not appear in your wallet post-recovery, refresh your wallet or check the transaction on a blockchain explorer for confirmation.

Remember, each transaction will incur a network fee, so make sure you have sufficient funds to cover the gas costs.
