Getting Started with HazardCo Complete

Everything you need to do in your first few weeks as a HazardCo Bundled Complete member, from setting up your first Project to pre-qualifying your contractors

Who Can Use This Guide?

  • Bundled Complete membership customers

  • Hub Admin and Hub User roles can complete the Hub-based setup steps below

  • All team members (including Mobile Only roles) will use the HazardCo App day to day

1. Update Your Company Details

Make sure your Health and Safety documents reflect your business information.

  1. Log into the Hub.

  2. Go to Company Settings.

  3. Update your company details and save your changes.

2. Set Up Your First Project

Your plan comes with Projects included at no extra cost. Check your Hub to see how many are included in your membership. Use them for the jobs you've got on the go now, and purchase extra Projects as you take on more work.

  1. In the Hub, order a new Project for a current or upcoming build.

  2. Enter the key details: site address, emergency information, and hazards.

  3. HazardCo helps identify what else to include and provides best practice controls.

  4. This generates a content-rich Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP).

  5. Save your first Project as a template to make future Projects even quicker to set up.

Once your Project is set up, you'll be able to:

  • Receive site signage with a unique QR code for your site fence.

  • Have workers use the free App to scan in and out, complete inductions, and add certifications.

  • Create Health and Safety reports using guided templates.

  • Share documents and communicate with your on-site team through the Digital Site Noticeboard.

  • Monitor and track who is on-site and Health and Safety activity levels.

Please Note: If you haven't already, download the on-site HazardCo App from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

3. Get Your Contractors Sorted

Managing contractors comes with risk, but HazardCo makes it simple to protect your business with an automated system to pre-qualify contractors and check insurance, trade qualifications, and more.

  1. In the Hub, invite your contractors to complete pre-qualification.

  2. You'll be notified by email when a contractor submits their pre-qualification.

  3. Head back into the Hub to review the submission. You can check the pre-qualification status of all contractors at a glance.

  4. Accept or reject the submission. If you reject one, write a comment explaining why so the contractor can resubmit successfully.

4. Kick Off Your First Toolbox Meeting

Once your Health and Safety system is set up, tell your team about it and get them involved. Use the Toolbox Meeting feature in the HazardCo App to record your regular team discussions about work and Health and Safety matters.

Tips for your first Toolbox meeting:

  1. Introduce HazardCo as your new Health and Safety system and explain that you've partnered with HazardCo to strengthen how you manage safety on-site.

  2. Highlight key expectations: everyone must sign in and out of site daily, report hazards, and speak up about unsafe work.

  3. Set shared goals for regular Site Reviews, Toolbox Meetings, and open safety communication.

  4. Run through how to use the HazardCo App, including completing a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) for high-risk construction work.

5. Check Your Health and Safety Documentation Schedule

Documentation is a key way of showing that Health and Safety is active on-site, and provides evidence for incident investigations, Regulator inspections, and insurance claims, and helps share learnings with your team.

We recommend aiming to hit the recommended documentation benchmarks for your business.

6. Book Your Free Training

Online training: Watch our library of short demo videos in your own time, or join one of our weekly live training sessions to help you get the most out of your membership.

Risk Management Training: As part of your Bundled Complete membership, you get free access to Pointsbuild's WHS Risk Management Training, a practical online course that helps you identify, assess, and control risks on-site. This course normally costs $70 per person, but is included in your membership at no extra cost.

  1. Open the Pointsbuild WHS Risk Management Training opt-in form.

  2. Complete the opt-in details.

  3. Access the course once your opt-in is confirmed.

7. Complete Your Health and Safety Checklist

Our Health and Safety Checklist is a great place to start, it walks you through the basics and shows you exactly what you need to set up. It's broken down into 5 simple areas: Work, People, Incidents, Emergency Procedures, and Administration.

  1. Open the Health and Safety Checklist.

  2. Work through each of the 5 areas, focusing on what applies to your business.

  3. Start with the highest priority items so you can get the most important things in place quickly.

Please Note: Not everything will apply to every business, skip anything that isn't relevant to the work you do.

8. Show You're Serious About Health and Safety

Once you're up and running, download the HazardCo Member badge to add to your website or share on your socials.
