Video Component

Embed videos from the Media Archive or as web videos and flexibly control display and playback options.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The Video Component is used to display a single video. In its structure, it is similar to the Image Component, with the difference that a video is embedded instead of an image.

By default, the video is displayed in the selected width, and a caption can optionally be shown below it. As with other components, a headline and a subheadline can also be displayed if needed.

Video Source

Under “Visual,” you can choose between:

  • Video from the Media Archive

  • Web video (embedded via URL)

When using videos from the Media Archive, attention should be paid to optimized file sizes, as large files can affect page loading time and overall performance.

Playback Options

For both video types, the following options can be activated:

  • Autoplay

  • Loop (automatic repetition)

  • Controls (playback bar with pause and navigation functions)

  • Disable the initial play button

Additionally, for videos from the Media Archive, a poster image can be defined. This image is displayed before the video loads or starts and is particularly useful for larger files.

Layout & Width

Under “Layout,” the following options are available:

  • Default → standard width

  • Wide → approximately 20% wider than Default

  • Full → full page width

As the width increases, the height of the video scales proportionally.

Color Scheme

A dedicated color scheme can be applied to the Video Component.

Tips & Tricks

  • Use optimized file sizes for videos from the Media Archive.

  • Add a poster image for larger videos or when Autoplay is disabled.

  • Use Autoplay and Loop deliberately.

  • Check video quality carefully when using Full width on large screens.
