On the Health Note platform, both the Prep Visit and Start Visit buttons allow users to initiate patient encounters, but they serve different needs depending on how much time you have and how you prefer to work.
Prep Visit
The Prep Visit button is ideal for users who prefer to set up encounters before seeing the patient. This option allows you to enter all the necessary patient information (such as name, EHR ID, date of birth, and language) before starting the conversation. By inputting these details in advance, you can ensure that your documentation is properly organized from the start. This method is especially advantageous for clinics that have the time to prepare and organize encounters before the patient enters the room.
Steps:
Click on Prep Visit.
Fill in the patient’s information.
Once the details are complete, you can start the recording right away or record later
Start Visit
The Start Visit button is designed for users who need to begin recording immediately. If you’re short on time or need to quickly capture a conversation, this feature allows you to start recording without entering patient details upfront. Once the recording has started, you can still enter patient information at the top of the Start Visit screen, or if you prefer, you can add these details after the recording is completed.
Steps:
Click on Start Visit to instantly begin recording the conversation.
Enter patient information either at the top of the recording screen or after the session is over, depending on your workflow.
Which Option Should You Choose?
Prep Visit: Best for users who want to organize and input patient details before the conversation begins.
Start Visit: Ideal when you need to capture a conversation immediately, with flexibility to add patient details later.
