Written by Brooke Schuyler

Purpose

The Futures Prices Tab shows how climate risk may influence futures markets. It combines futures pricing data with Helios’ climate-driven trading signals.

This tab is only available for exchange-traded commodities.

Trading Signals

What you see

At the top of the page:

  • A rolling futures price chart

  • A daily trading signal (bullish, bearish, or neutral)

  • A written explanation describing how climate indicators drove the signal

Signals are based entirely on climate data and do not include macroeconomic or geopolitical inputs.

Futures Contracts

Rolling contract

By default, the chart displays the rolling contract, which automatically switches to the most active futures contract as expiration approaches.

Additional contracts

Below the chart, you can view:

  • Other active futures contracts

  • Settlement prices

  • Daily price changes

  • Trading symbols and exchanges

You can select any contract to compare it directly against climate risk.

Historical and Forecast Views

You can:

  • View daily futures prices and signals going back up to five years

  • See projected signals up to one year into the future

  • Zoom into specific weeks or days for granular analysis

This tab is useful for understanding how markets have historically reacted to climate risk and identifying potential future inflection points.
