If your store generation or import appears to be stuck or isn't completing, there are a few common causes and quick fixes. In most cases, the issue is related to the product link you're using.

Most common cause: product link access
The most frequent reason a generation gets stuck is that Atlas cannot access the product page from our servers. This typically happens when:
The product page is region-locked or restricted to certain countries.
The product listing has been removed or is temporarily unavailable.
The URL is malformed or incomplete.
When Atlas can't read the product details from the link, the generation process has nothing to work with and can stall.
How to fix this: Try using a US-based product link if you're sourcing from platforms like AliExpress or Amazon. Region-locked pages are the most common culprit. If the product is available in multiple regions, grab the link from the US version of the site.
Other troubleshooting steps
If the product link isn't the issue, try the following:
Wait a few minutes. Generation can slow down during periods of high traffic. Give it a few minutes and check again before restarting.
Refresh and retry. Reload your Shopify admin, then start the generation process again. This resolves most temporary issues.
Try a different product source. If the link still isn't working, try adding the product to your Shopify catalog manually first and then using the Shopify product source option in Atlas. This bypasses external product links entirely.
Try the Custom website product source. If a specific platform link (AliExpress, Amazon, etc.) isn't working, try selecting Custom website as your product source and paste the same link there. This uses a different method to pull product data from the page and can sometimes succeed where the platform-specific option doesn't.
Shopify plan requirements for theme imports
If your generation completes but the theme import fails, your Shopify plan may be the issue. Theme imports require Shopify Basic or higher. If you're on Shopify's Starter plan ($5/month), theme importing is not supported by Shopify.
To check your current Shopify plan, go to Settings → Plan in your Shopify admin. If you need to upgrade, Shopify has a full breakdown of available plans in their official pricing documentation.
If none of the steps above resolve the issue, contact an agent through our Intercom web chat. If you're already in the chat, type "Talk to agent" to be directed to one. Or by emailing us at support@helloatlas.io.
