Why am I getting a bundle conflict error?

Another active bundle already covers one or more of the same products. Only one bundle can apply to a product at a time.

Written by Eddie Lavandera

Another bundle already applies to at least one of the products you are targeting. Only one active bundle may cover a given product, because two bundles would mean two competing sets of automatic discounts with no sensible way to resolve which wins. Find the bundle that overlaps, then either narrow it, narrow the new one, or delete one of them.

The five messages and what each means

Message

What it means

Cannot apply bundle to 'all products' when another bundle is already applied on 'all products' or 'specific collection' or 'specific products'

You are creating an all-products bundle and any other bundle exists

Cannot create a bundle on 'specific products' when another bundle is applied to 'all products'

An all-products bundle already covers everything

Cannot create a bundle on 'specific products' when another bundle is also applies to one or more of same products

Another bundle targets at least one of the same products

Cannot create a bundle on 'specific collection' because another bundle is already applied to the same 'specific collection'

That collection is already covered

Cannot create a bundle on 'specific collection' when another bundle is applied to 'all products'

An all-products bundle already covers everything

ℹ️ The third message contains a small grammatical error in the product. It is reproduced here exactly so a search for the message you saw finds this article.

Step 1: Find the conflicting bundle

  1. Open Bundle Deals in Atlas.

  2. Set the filter to Active. Only active bundles conflict; drafts do not.

  3. Look at each active bundle's product targeting.

Work in this order, because it resolves fastest:

  • Is any bundle set to All products? If so, that is your conflict, whatever else you were trying to do.

  • Is any bundle targeting the same collection?

  • Is any bundle targeting one of the same products? Check individual products, not just the obvious ones.

Step 2: Choose how to resolve it

Four options, depending on what you actually want.

Narrow the existing bundle. If it is set to All products but only really needs to cover one category, change it to Specific collections. Your new bundle can then cover the rest.

Narrow the new bundle. Target products the existing bundle does not.

Edit the existing bundle instead of creating a new one. Often the real intent. If you want a different offer for the same products, change the offers on the bundle that already covers them.

Delete or deactivate the old bundle. Setting it back to draft frees its products immediately.

💡 Editing the existing bundle is usually right. Two bundles for the same products is rarely what anyone actually wants, and one bundle with better-designed tiers does the same job with none of the conflict.

The all-products trap

⚠️ An all-products bundle blocks every other bundle on your store. It is the single most common cause of this error. Avoid it from the start if you ever plan to run different offers for different categories.

If you have one and want more granularity:

  1. Note the offers on the all-products bundle.

  2. Change its targeting to a specific collection, or set it to draft.

  3. Create your category bundles.

  4. Recreate the original as a collection bundle if you still want it.

Collections that overlap

Two bundles targeting different collections still conflict if a product belongs to both.

This is easy to miss with automated collections, where membership is decided by conditions rather than chosen by hand. A product tagged for two different automated collections quietly sits in both.

To check, open the product in Shopify and look at its Collections list. If a product appears in two collections that each have a bundle, that is your overlap.

Fix it in Shopify by tightening the collection conditions, or in Atlas by targeting specific products rather than collections.

If no bundle seems to conflict

Check these before contacting support:

  1. Filter by Active, not All. A draft you had forgotten does not conflict, so if you see the error, something active is behind it.

  2. Look for a bundle in another project. The conflict is store-wide, not per project, and the Bundle Deals screen shows all of them.

  3. Check for another bundling app. Only one bundle app can be active on a store. Another app's discounts can block Atlas. See Apps that conflict with Atlas.

  4. Check your automatic discount count. If you are near Shopify's limit of 25, you may be seeing a different error. See "You have reached the maximum number of automatic discounts".

Still stuck? Start a chat from the bubble in the bottom right of Atlas, or email support@helloatlas.io. Include your store URL, the exact error text, the name of the bundle you are trying to save, and its product targeting.
